Big shout-out to our GDRHS Peer Leaders for their recent visit to Swallow Union! 👏💙

The Peer Leaders planned and prepared an engaging lesson on kindness for 4th graders, leading small group activities, sharing a read-aloud, and encouraging thoughtful acts that can be carried forward every day.

A special thank you to Kelly McManus, GD teacher, for organizing this meaningful experience each year and accompanying our students. Your dedication helps make a lasting impact on both our high school leaders and younger learners alike! 🌟

🚀🌕 Shout-out to our students who took on the challenge of designing and building their own lunar landers! Working in teams, they applied engineering design principles to create devices capable of safely landing on the moon, testing creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

This hands-on STEM activity connects perfectly with today’s exciting milestone as the USA prepares to send a crew to the moon on Artemis II.

A special thank you to Mrs. Long, Teacher, for her thoughtful planning and engaging activities that made this experience so meaningful for our students. 🌟

In PE this week, students fully immersed themselves in one of the most anticipated events of the year...Scooter City! This annual favorite transforms the gym into a vibrant, student-centered “city,” where creativity and movement come together.

Students explored a variety of themed stations, including an ice rink, campground, veterinary clinic, Dunkin’ Donuts, car wash, and bowling alley. Through imaginative play and active engagement, students collaborated, problem-solved, and had a great time navigating their city.

Our 3rd graders had an exciting hands-on experience with the High Touch High Tech Enrichment Program, generously supported by our PTO! Students explored animal adaptations, both physical and behavioral, through engaging activities. They made their own cacti, tested out “blubber” to see how it helps animals stay warm, and created glow-in-the-dark jellyfish while learning how animals survive and thrive in their environments.

We were excited to host children’s author Jason Viola as part of our Read Across America celebration! Mr. Viola writes engaging and informative books that get kids excited about reading and learning. During his visit, students had the chance to meet Mr. Viola, hear him read from one of his books, ask questions about writing and creativity, and get their books autographed.

We’re so grateful to have had him with us and thank him for inspiring our students to think big and explore the world through books.

Due to a Sysco delivery delay, our scheduled food order will not arrive as expected. As a result, some menu items, particularly fruits and vegetables, may be substituted with items we currently have on hand. Families should be aware that menus may be adjusted for the remainder of the week. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

Mrs. Lattini’s and Mrs. Olson’s Kindergarten classes have been on a whirlwind adventure to catch the Gingerbread Man! All week long, students have been reading his story, writing about their sightings, and drawing pictures to mark where he’s been. The excitement spread school-wide as everyone joined the hunt. After all that running, our tired Gingerbread Man was finally discovered taking a well-earned rest with Nurse Jen!
