Thanks to a generous grant from the Groton Cultural Council, Grade 8 students had the honor of hearing Ms. Janet Applefield speak on Thursday about her experiences as one of the hidden children of the Holocaust in her presentation of Speaking to Combat Hate and Prejudice.

Thanks to the generosity of the Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation for funding 60 books (2 class sets) of Ms. Applefield's book Becoming Janet: Finding Myself in the Holocaust, current and future students can learn about and share her story and message to Combat Hate and Prejudice.

Middle School Connections students visited Florence Roche classrooms for their Spring Day of Connection, focused on Neurodiversity Acceptance. The middle schoolers led read-alouds and conversations with the younger students centered around neurodiversity and the importance of celebrating the many differences that make us all human. This meaningful opportunity is intended to foster empathy, understanding, and leadership among our 8th grade Connections students while also helping to promote awareness, acceptance, and kindness in the elementary learning communities.

Please see this message from Dee Bus:

As we reach the end of the school year, we understand there are many end-of-year playdates and party schedules. Please kindly remember that middle school students are not permitted to ride home on a different bus other than their assigned bus route. If a student needs to get off at a different stop along their assigned bus route, a parent/guardian must email the school, along with Erica at Dee Bus Service (erenna@deebus.com), with the requested bus stop change so the student can receive the appropriate note to give to the bus driver. Without a note from the school, the bus driver will not allow your child to get off at a different stop. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to keep all students safe. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We want to remind you that seeking help for mental health issues is a sign of great strength, not a sign of weakness!

We want to challenge everybody to practice some extra self-care this month. Self-care for mental health involves intentionally engaging in activities to maintain emotional, psychological, and social well-being, reducing stress, and managing difficult emotions. It is a proactive, daily practice of setting boundaries, nurturing oneself, and prioritizing mental health to increase resilience. Check out our May 2026 Self-Care Challenge Here!

Here are a couple of other resources to help take care of your mental health this month and every month:

Informational Video - Information about how to find community-based mental health care from Care Solace.

GDRMS Counseling Calming Room- Here you can find a variety of interactive resources designed to help calm your body and mind.

This weekend, come watch our GDRMS students perform in Disney’s Descendants! Based on the popular Disney Channel movies, this musical is jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films! Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island… until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good? Performances are Friday (4/10) at 7pm and Saturday (4/11) at 2pm & 7pm in the PAC (Stoddart Building). Come support your community! Tickets are cash only and will be sold at the door.

This week, our 7th-grade PLTW engineers are turning cardstock, wire and a magnet into a paper speaker that will eventually plug in to my phone.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Groton-Dunstable Education Fund (GDEF), our students are stepping into the roles of acoustical engineers. They aren’t just "making a craft"—they are building a functional Communication System from scratch and learning how a message moves. #GDEF #PLTW #STEM

This week students and staff participated in a school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge! Each person received a beaded necklace which they used to challenge one another during a single elimination match. Matches took place during Advisory, lunches and passing time and culminated in a showdown this morning in the PAC. Congratulations to Abby S. for her big win and to Ali D. for lasting until the end! Special thanks to our Student Council and their Advisor Ms. Wilson for organizing this community building event!

Families looking for tutoring
* The Dunstable and Groton Public Libraries keep flyers and contact info for local tutors at the front desk. Staff at the libraries should be able to assist in sharing the contacts that they have, or families can review the flyers that are posted on their own.
* The Prescott Center has been running homework help sessions after school with the support of students from the High School. Families can check the schedule of events at Prescott, or can connect with their programming manager for options.
* Adam Snodgrass at the High School is the advisor for National Honor Society and can connect families with students who are interested/available for tutoring
