5TH GRADE ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Join us as we welcome the newly minted middle schoolers at an Ice Cream Social on August 19, 2026 at 3pm. Bring your 5th grader to enjoy some ice cream, meet other kids, ask questions, and tour the building! Volunteer your time to be a scooper, or donate funds to help us support this event!

TEXTILE BIN
Have you done an end of summer purge of clothing and other fabric items but don't know what to do with those bags of old clothes, shoes, or linens? Drop them into the textile recycling bin in the middle school parking lot to help support GDMS PTO! Be sure to look for our logo!

This summer, Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry will offer special Summer Kid Bags for school-aged children to provide breakfasts, lunches, and snacks when school meals are unavailable. Please see the flyer below for more information.

This morning we welcomed incoming fifth graders to the Middle School for their Up Day! 4th Grade students from Swallow Union and Florence Roche were greeted by our fifth graders who provided tours of the school, answered questions and played math board games that they created themselves! Students also participated in a Q&A with Principal Wendy Salvatore and Assistant Principal Michael Day and said hello to our wonderful 5th grade teacher team. The morning ended with a popsicle social sponsored by the elementary school PTOs!

In PLTW, 8th grade students acting as NASA engineers explored liftoff, investigated propulsion systems, determined how the amount of fuel a rocket uses impacts its travel distance and compared how different types of fuel affect the distance a spacecraft travels. #PLTW #FlightandSpace #STEM #STEAM

The hallways of the Marion Stoddart Building have been transformed into a vibrant showcase of creativity thanks to the incredible work of our high school student artists. Led by event coordinator Valerie Kordun (Class of 2028), this student art showcase highlights the talent, imagination, and dedication of students across a variety of artistic styles and mediums. From detailed drawings and paintings to bold mixed media pieces, the exhibit brings color and energy to our school community while celebrating the voices and perspectives of our students. Be sure to stop by and take in the outstanding artwork now on display throughout the hallways. Thank you to all of the student artists who helped make this showcase such a success! #gdrsdchat

Thanks to a generous grant from the Groton Cultural Council, Grade 8 students had the honor of hearing Ms. Janet Applefield speak on Thursday about her experiences as one of the hidden children of the Holocaust in her presentation of Speaking to Combat Hate and Prejudice.

Thanks to the generosity of the Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation for funding 60 books (2 class sets) of Ms. Applefield's book Becoming Janet: Finding Myself in the Holocaust, current and future students can learn about and share her story and message to Combat Hate and Prejudice.
