Join us for a night of teamwork, inclusion, and community! Cheer on the GD Unified Crusaders as they take on our local police and firefighters in a fun, kid-friendly basketball game! This great event is on Monday, November 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $5, and proceeds benefit GDRHS Best Buddies. Bring the family and show your Crusader spirit!

Get ready to meet the next generation of biomedical engineers! In PLTW, 7th graders with tasked with designing a custom foot orthosis for a client with cerebral palsy, all while sticking to a strict $50 budget. The only thing more impressive than the engineering was how much fun they had doing it!

Mr. Fuller’s Latin students brought food culture, sports, geography, and more to life using Latin vocabulary! Using Google Slides and our new interactive panels installed in middle school classrooms, students shared engaging presentations with their peers. Did you know? One student shared that Marostica, Italy, hosts a “human chess” event every two years...with real people as the pieces in the town square!

MS Picture Retake Day will be on Monday, November 9th! Here is some information from Geskus: Retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day. Additionally, we welcome anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. Retake photos automatically replace original photos in school services and yearbook. If a student chooses to retake their photo, please have them return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace it at no additional cost.

If this is the first time being photographed, just have the student/staff go to the camera and we’ll create a proof for them that will be sent to the school (and/or to their family email if we have that information). These proofs will be delivered approx. 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.

If your 5th-8th student is applying to another school for the next school year, please read this information about our process for requesting teacher recommendations and school transcripts. Recommendations from teachers and counselors will start being completed after first term grades have been published to families. School Counselors complete the transcript request forms. Please allow at least 3 weeks for the staff to complete the forms.

Help for the Holidays!

This year more than ever, for some people in our community, the holiday season
can be anything but happy. If you are a family with children, infants to Middle
School and are experiencing financial difficulties, please remember that the
Community Children’s Fund can help with gifts, food and winter clothing. If you
would like to experience the joy of giving during this upcoming holiday season,
the Community Children’s Fund would be able to offer several different options.

Jon Mattelman is a mental health clinician coming to speak to families on the evening of 10/22 in the PAC. His program "Secret Lives of Teens and Tweens" aims to normalize conversations around mental health and equip families with tools to open up conversation at home with their teens and tweens.

The event is open to staff, families, and the community. It is being funded by the Trust Commission. While it is more targeted to middle and high school families, We think it is also worth sharing with elementary families who have early tweens and may have older kiddos, too.

8th grade PLTW students are testing "rocket fuel." Students were trying to find the most efficient fuel-to-oxidizer ratio that generates the maximum amount of thrust (propulsion) while keeping the rocket's weight minimal.

For the International Day of Peace, our students, with the help of their Advisors, created these beautiful works of art! If you happen to come by, look for these hand made pinwheels adorning our outdoor space. Thank you to our wonderful Art teachers Katie Boettcher and Andrea Wilson for organizing this special project!

PLTW 7th grade teams have started building their bridges. Each team has been given 100 wooden coffee stirrers and glue.

As part of their PLTW coursework, 8th-grade teams launched balloon rockets to determine how many puffs of air were required to propel them 9 meters. This hands-on project provided students with a clear, practical demonstration of Newton's Third Law of Motion in action.
