Project Mitten is well underway here at the Middle School, with students coming together to embrace the spirit of giving! Project Mitten is our annual student-led holiday fundraising initiative where students raise money to benefit the Groton Community Children's Fund which assists families in our community. The 6th grade has been holding a book drive, see pictures below of their raffle today! The 5th grade held a Read-a-Thon and Math-a-Thon today and earned donation money by doing a chore for someone at home. Grade 7 is holding a Munchie Market to raise funds and grade 8 is holding a basket raffle (see Ms. Salvatore's parent memo for a chance to bid on one the fabulous baskets the 8th graders made!)

Are you looking for a unique way to recognize a Teacher, Administrator, or Other Staff/Community Member for their hard work and impact they’ve had on your child? GDEF Teaching Stars are the perfect (easy!) gift! They are a great way to say "Thank You" while helping to enrich the schools in the form of a donation to the Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF). Learn more here about how to show an educator how much they are appreciated with a Teaching Star: https://www.gdefinc.org/teaching-star.

We are having a "Week Before Winter Vacation" Spirit Week! Please see below for details.

Due to the predicted road conditions worsening in the afternoon, Groton Dunstable Regional Schools will be running an early dismissal/half-day schedule for all schools on Tuesday, December 2nd. All afternoon/evening activities will be canceled.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve! The Stoddart had its first Pep Rally and the fifth grade is looking forward to winning again in 6th, 7th and 8th grade so that they can be our first undefeated class!

If you are visiting the Middle School this week for teacher conferences, please be sure to check out the Lost & Found! These photos are from the Stoddart building.

Dear Families,
For over 20 years, the Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF), a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the educational experience for every student in our public schools, has proudly invested over $720,000 in grants to our schools through hundreds of innovative and engaging programs and opportunities that go beyond the scope of the regular school budget. Last year, GDEF awarded 21 grants totaling over $20,000, supporting creative and impactful projects and experiences across all five schools, including outdoor learning kits and character assemblies, and sponsorships of Robotomies, Tour of the World, and DECA. With our district facing significant financial challenges, donor support matters now more than ever. Make a difference today by donating online at www.gdefinc.org/donate. Our students, our schools, and our community are worth it.
Thank you for your support, the GDEF Board of Directors

The film canister represents a rocket. 8th grade students were tasked with testing different propellants (vinegar, club soda, water, Alka-Seltzer, Tums, baking soda). Students monitored the rocket's reaction to the propellants and recorded the results on a data table. The Alka-Seltzer/Vinegar combination were the clear winners. #PLTW #STEM #STEAM

Join GDRSD students, families, and staff for a community meeting with state legislators and educators on funding our public schools. Please join the discussion on Thursday, November 20th, at 6:00 p.m., at the Marion Stoddart Performing Arts Center, 344 Main Street, Groton.

Come out and support your community! Tonight and tomorrow, join all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters as they spring to life onstage in Seussical Jr.! A fantastical musical extravaganza perfect for the entire family, Seussical Jr. teaches us the power of being unique and the importance of fighting for your beliefs. Performances are tonight (Friday) at 7pm and Saturday at 2pm & 7pm in the PAC. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students & seniors and will be sold at the door.

As we approach the giving season, please consider including the Middle School PTO in your charitable donations. As a non-profit organization, GDRMS PTO runs exclusively on donations and is extremely grateful for anything you might be able to contribute. All of the funds raised help execute their mission of building a connected middle school community for all of our kids. Head to the PTO website (www.gdmspto.com) or donate directly.

Cleaning out before the holidays? Don't forget to drop your old textiles in the GDRMS PTO bin. The PTO receives a portion of all proceeds from the recycling bin and uses those funds to support PTO initiatives and events. Be sure to check out the new logo on their bin!!
