Mrs. Bushnell's second-grade class loved using manipulatives such as popsicle sticks and Digi-Blocks to see and form base ten units. Students bundled ones into tens, tens into hundreds, and hundreds into a thousand!
Third and Fourth Graders in the Tech Innovation Lab are becoming pros at using Google Slides. They are practicing how to cut, paste, resize, reorder, and move objects by creating a Halloween Scene! Some students wrote a spooky story to match their scene.
Students in 4J were caught persevering and embracing the challenge of their end of module assessment. Students displayed great organization skills, use of strategies and resources, and mindfulness to work on a very lengthy assessment.
After giving great effort in math, students then became scientists. They used sugar cubes to represent rocks, and shook the cubes to discover the effects of weathering and erosion of rocks. They then recorded their observations of how the cubes changed with more and more shakes. What a fun way to learn about weathering and erosion!
Mrs. Schott’s class worked hard at creating their drawings for the Square One Art fundraiser.
Students in grades 2-4 were VERY excited to open the sculpture center in Art this week! If your child brings home a sculpture ask them to explain their creation to you. I think you will be pleased with the creative thinking that is going into these pieces!
Second Graders in the Technology Innovation Lab are learning how to be good digital citizens!
Some of our 4th graders adding music and movement to poetry. One of our 4th grade classes are exploring xylophones with improvisation!
PE is currently in the middle of their jump rope unit. For second through fourth grade, last week they started with individual skills. This week they moved on to partner tricks. Next week they will begin the long rope!

Students in Mrs. O'Hara's fourth grade enjoyed exploring thick and thin lava.
They compared bubbles and shape to discover which one forms a cone vs. shield volcanoes and the science behind the explosions of a cone volcano!

Morning Meeting in Mrs. Hamel's Class! Students are partners in a game called trust partners. One student closes their eyes while the other directs them around the classroom in a safe manner (creating a classroom of trust and safety).
Students in Mrs. Codyer’s Innovation Lab discuss the differences between posting public and private information online. Students were able to ‘turn and talk’ and share out examples being safe online! #gdrsdchat
Mrs. Schott’s first graders conducting a science experiment to see if their rocks and a piece of chalk would react and change when drops of white vinegar are applied… “Bubble and Fizz”!
Our second graders are learning to build their reading stamina each day by reading for longer and longer periods of time. The students in Mrs. Rozzi's class recorded the number of reading minutes on a stamina chart and were able to see how many more minutes they were reading each day. They made a drum roll sound on their laps as we announce the number of minutes each day!
