The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted Tuesday to give the state's education commissioner the authority to mandate masks for all public K-12 students and staff.
Education Commissioner Jeffrey C. Riley has pushed for a mandate to be put in place through Oct. 1. “to ensure schools fully reopen safely and to provide time for more students and educators to get vaccinated.”
