GDRSD is proud to share an important step forward in our ongoing commitment to protecting student information. Beginning this past summer, we adopted enhanced student data privacy standards and deepened our work with the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC).
The SDPC is a national collaborative of schools, districts, and state agencies focused on developing practical solutions to growing data privacy concerns. By aligning our digital instructional practices with this consortium, we are taking proactive steps to ensure the digital tools used in our classrooms meet high standards for security, transparency, and accountability.
As part of this work, we also launched a dedicated Data & Student Privacy webpage to provide families and staff with clear, accessible information about how student data is protected and how instructional software is reviewed and approved. You can learn more at: https://www.gdrsd.org/page/data-privacy
Through the SDPC Resource Registry and our local privacy processes, we are strengthening how we evaluate, manage, and communicate about the software solutions that support teaching and learning.
This initiative began as focused work over the summer, but it reflects a long-term commitment. We look forward to continuing and building on our partnership with the SDPC next year (and for many years) as we remain dedicated to safeguarding our students’ information now and in the future.
