Swallow Union Update

Week of January 16th, 2023

Message from Mrs. Jarvis, Principal

Atlas, some snow for playing outside!  I hope each of you finds some time to enjoy the fresh air, go sledding, and have hot chocolate on this beautiful snow day.  A few reminders for our families as you arrive at the school for drop off or pick up anytime during the school day.

  • Family pets in vehicles that enjoy the ride to and from school, we love seeing them as long as they are secure in your car.

  • Please do not park nor leave your car unattended and idling in the fire lane in front of the school.  We ask that you find a parking spot and keep the fire lane open.

  • Past “practice” of letting your child(ren) out after arrival has ended and letting them enter unattended is a safety concern.  If you do not see staff outside, morning arrival has ended and we ask that you park in a parking spot and check in at the office.  This will ensure they are accounted for and not marked absent.

  • If you are walking your child into the building, all visitors must check in at the office to avoid interrupting the routines and start of the day for teachers and students. Please do not walk your child into their classroom.

With the winter weather finally here, just a reminder to ensure that your child has the appropriate winter clothing (boots, hats, gloves) to play outside in the snow and in the colder temperatures.

Students in 2H show off their reports and portraits of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Mrs. Hamel’s students work hard and have fun in Math Workshop.

4J is learning about electrical energy. After discovering the pathway needed for electrical energy to flow, students created a flashlight and used their understanding to create a light-up circuit card. They had to design a path from a battery to an led bulb and put in a switch to turn the light on and off. Science is so fun!
