Swallow Union Weekly Update Week of October 3rd, 2022

Thank you to our amazing PTO and staff for a very successful Color Fun Run this past Friday evening!  What a wonderful event to bring our families and students together while raising money for the PTO.  It was truly a joy to watch all the students having a great time playing, running, dancing, coloring kindness stones and having some treats.  It was also super fun to watch our teachers chasing down some students with chalk paint!  Such a nice kickoff to the school year!

Early Literacy Night!

Thursday, October 20, 2022

7:00 PM

Zoom!

Please join us to learn more about how our whole community works together with our youngest students on emergent and early literacy skills. Those important skills, such as phonemic awareness, letter/sound knowledge, concepts of print, and oral language knowledge build the foundation that is needed to be a successful reader and writer beyond the early years. We will share how we work with learners at school in these areas. We will also share some ideas for how to make literacy a part of your daily life at home. You will get a chance to hear from Amanda Densmore, the PreK-8 ELA Supervisor, as well as literacy specialists from both Swallow Union and Florence Roche. We look forward to seeing you!

Anyone is welcome to join us, but our focus will be literacy instruction in K-2. Interested PreK families are encouraged to join as well.

Lost and Found

We have so many missing sweatshirts and jackets waiting to be found!  Please take a peek or ask your child(ren) to come and look for any missing articles of clothing and water bottles!  We are making every effort to find the owners and if you can write your child(rens) names on the items we can ensure they are found!
