Swallow Union Weekly Update

Welcome Back Swallow Union Students

There is an air of excitement as we welcomed back our faculty on Monday! We spent some time team building, reviewing the work we began last year on SU's Core Values and the importance of building relationships with our students in the first 6 weeks.

Monday afternoon we greeted our incoming Kindergartners to see their classrooms and have a chance to take a ride on a school bus! It was great to meet many of our families new and returning as we welcome in our youngest learners.

The sound of our students throughout SU was a welcomed, familiar ring reminding us that building community and relationships is the foundation to a strong school year. On Wednesday we welcomed our students in grade 1-4 and on Thursday our Kindergartners joined our school community! I look forward to getting to know our students more and more each day. With all this excitement, we can also feel a little nervous about learning new routines and making new friends, and even as educators, we can feel this way too! We are confident that this is going to be a great year! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Welcoming Messages from our Families & Students

Each year our PTO assists with inviting our families to SU to leave chalk messages at our entrances for our students. We are so grateful to those who came out to leave our students and staff with positive thoughts and encouragement as we begin a new school year!

Thank you both faculty, families and the Dunstable community for such a warm welcome! I am looking forward to a great year! Mrs. Jarvis

Curriculum Open House ~ September 15, 2022
Parents/guardians of elementary school students in grades kindergarten through 4th are invited to attend Open House on September 15th. This is an opportunity to meet your child(rens) teachers and learn:

  • What the teacher is like as a person
  • How the teacher will help your child(ren) thrive
  • How you can be involved in your child(rens) education
  • Learn the classroom routines, rules and expectations
  • Learn about what your child(ren) will be learning

The goal of this evening is for families to make connections about what students are doing in school and be able to engage in conversations at home about their day at school. Parents who are involved in their child(rens) education often result with children who are more likely to be motivated to learn and succeed and in turn increases their self-esteem and confidence.

Our PTO will also be present throughout the evening so you can learn more about the organization, volunteer opportunities and donations.

6:00 pm to 6:30 pm:  Grades K, 1 & 2; Go to Classroom

6:30 pm to 7:00 pm:  Grades K, 1, 2, 3, & 4; Visit Specialists in their classrooms

7:00 pm to 7:30 pm:  Grades 3 & 4; Go to their child's classroom
