Weekly Memo

Hello Middle School families.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend. The weather sure was nice.  I hope you didn’t spend too much time raking leaves or doing yard work.

What does Community look, feel and sound like?  I have two again.

  • Community is people being respectful and tolerant of differences. Community is being kind and accepting even when you don’t agree.

  • Community is a safe, welcoming and trusting environment.

New Information:  There is a lot here.  Please take the time to read this memo and let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hearing and Vision screenings - WILL NOT BE HAPPENING THIS WEEK.  The screeners needed to reschedule.  Please stay tuned for the rescheduled dates.

  • November 8th Voting in the South Gym.

  • Lunch, families, please communicate with your students around what you order them for lunch.  There were a few instances this past week when the second lunch students came down and what they had ordered was no longer there.  From talking with our kitchen staff this happens when students don’t know what was ordered for them so they just take what they want at the moment.  Thank you

  • Best Buddies will meet after school on Wednesday, November 9 for a scavenger hunt and a Friendship Walk. Watch the weather and bring a coat!

  • SEPAC coffee and conversation, please see this link https://www.gdsepac.com/event-details/sepac-coffee-and-conversation

  • The Groton Dunstable Regional Middle School holiday sale has begun! Save 20% all November on everything in the store! Choose from hundreds of spirit wear designs and garments, including gift ideas for parents and grandparents. Guaranteed delivery by Dec 23rd! Visit https://1stplace.sale/41852.

  • Arrival and Dismissal -

    • Arrival:  I understand how tight for time everyone is in the morning.  Getting to work or dropping off another child may be on your mind.  In an effort to make the drop off line move quicker we are asking a few things.

      • Students should be exiting cars and buses at 7:58.

      • Please take the turn around the curve at drop off rather than stopping at the sidewalk.

      • Please allow your students to exit your car at the yellow poles on the right. If you look for them you’ll see them.  This will allow for about 7 -8 students to exit their cars at the same time.

    • Dismissal-

      • If your child does not come out of the building and you find yourself waiting, please pull into a parking spot.  This will allow other students to get in their cars and leave for an extracurricular activity or for that parent to get to another school.

      • Please let your students know that the buses will start leaving the school by 2:30 starting Monday.  We started the year with the buses leaving at 2:32 to make sure that all students knew where to go and that they got on their buses on time.  Now buses kind of wait that extra 2 minutes.

  • Grade 8 is installing their scarecrows around our campus.  Please take a minute to check them out.

  • To families who put up trees or wreaths, the Groton Cub Scouts are selling such items please see the attached flier. 24th annual tree and wreath sale

Dates to remember:

  • Grades close on 11/4 and will be shared with families on 11/14

  • Parent Conferences 11/16 ½ day afternoon conferences, 11/17 ½ day evening conferences

  • Matilda Jr shows will be the evening of Friday November 18th and the afternoon and evening of Saturday November 19th.

Sincerely your Groton Dunstable Regional Middle School Principal
