Family memo

Hello GDRMS Families.  I hope you had a great weekend.

This will be my last "weekly" memo for this school year.  I will be sending out information over the summer as I get it.  I work all summer and will check emails and voicemails if you need me for anything please feel free to reach out @ wsalvatore@gdrsd.org

I want you all to know that I am grateful to be your middle school principal.  I have had a great year.  It was a wonderful learning experience for me and I look forward to year two.  When I started the job I didn’t know what I didn’t know.  Now that I have been here for a year I know what to expect and how I can make improvements to some of our systems and structures.

THANK  YOU!

  • We are so excited for June and the start of Pride Month! As a middle school, we’ve had many conversations about what community looks, feels, and sounds like. Many students have shared that a community should feel safe, supportive, joyful, and inclusive. This month, and every month, it is important to make sure that our middle school follows through on these expectations for the LGBTQ+ community. We should always celebrate, highlight, share, and listen to LGBTQ+ stories and experiences and create that sense of connectedness and community.

Here are some resources about the celebration of pride and for folks who would like some resources geared toward talking with students:

Celebration of Pride | GLSEN (videos and stories!)

LGBTQ+ Community Resources

GLSEN, Welcoming Schools, and the Trevor Project have great resources!
