Counseling Corner: Tips for Asking Students About Their School Day
We know it can be challenging! ![]()
Sometimes, “How was school?” is just too easy to answer with a simple “fine.” Kids don't always know how to explain what happened during their day, especially when something is embarrassing, confusing, upsetting, or even surprisingly wonderful.
Sometimes they just need a question that gives them a little more room to talk. Try these questions instead:
What made you laugh today?
Who did you sit with at lunch?
What was the hardest part of your day?
Did anything surprise you today?
Did anyone do something kind for you today?
.
This bulletin is in the 6th grade hall. This was a writing assignment the students did with Ms. Arsenault. Ms. Arsenault took a poetry class over the summer and this assignment is based on a poem written by George Ella Lyon.
