Following our morning announcements today, we observed a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy. Discussions were also held during Social Studies and Advisory classes.
New Information:
Yearbook club starts Thursday September 17th 2:35-3:30. The club will meet on Thursdays throughout the school year in the North library. If you're interested in signing up please do so with the link. This club is free and open to all grades however priority will be given to returning 6-8th graders. If you plan to do the play or play sports but would like to do yearbook, you can! Student Council, we are getting ready to start up our Middle School Student Council. Please tell your students to keep an eye on announcements. They will get an interest form in their google classroom to fill out by September 25th.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR & FAMILY NIGHT - September 14-18!
We are excited to start the year with a Scholastic Book Fair happening 9/14 through 9/18. Be sure to get your student set up with an e-wallet (details to come)! Consider donating time to help us throughout this weeklong event, and don't miss our Family Night where you can shop with child and be entered into a raffle!

WELCOME BACK PARTY - September 18 at 12p!
It's back! Our annual welcome back event is returning, better than ever! Help us kick off the school year with an afternoon of fun and community on September 18 at 12p! (Apologies for the confusion there was a typo in the last update - ACK!) There will be lots of fun activities to enjoy and GDMS PTO will be providing pizza for all attendees. Register now (entrance fee of $10 per person).
Open House,
Our fall Open House is this coming Thursday 9/17 from 6:30-8. Our Open House is just that, an Open House. You are encouraged to bring your middle schooler with you. You will have the opportunity to meet your students, teachers and explore their spaces.
We hope you enjoy the evening.
All families will start in their students' Advisory. Know your student's Advisory teacher.
The Bookfair will be happening the in North Library
There will be a table to promote the Groton Dunstable Educational Foundation
Dr. Dyer, Assistant Superintendent, will be in the South building from 6:15 - 7:00 and the North building from 7:15 - 8:00 to provide information and answer questions about Title I academic services in our school.
The 6th grade team is hoping for donations of new or used board games to use during their Advisory time. These should be under twenty minute games (i.e. Connect four, Checkers, Trouble, Quarto, Operation, etc). Please bring them on Thursday night -- there will be bins in the sixth grade hallway. Thank you.

Please complete the Student Health Office Emergency card and return it to your building nurse. Please use the link below. This form includes a section for Parent/Guardian permission to administer Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen during the school day. Once completed you may scan and email it to lgray@gdrsd.org (grades 5/6) or to smerrill@gdrsd.org (grades 7/8). If your student has an emergency care plan or health care plan please make sure you complete the annual paperwork for the Health Office. If you have any questions about what is needed please reach out to your building nurse.
The middle school health offices are also accepting clothing donations to keep extra clothes on hand for students. We are accepting sweatshirts, leggings, and sweatpants in sizes youth medium (size 10/12) to adult large.

Early Release Lunch (New): We are introducing preordered lunches on early release days this year. If requested by a parent or guardian, students will have time scheduled to pick up a light, nutritious meal from the cafeteria to eat in their classroom.
