Family Memo

Family Memo

Good Morning Groton Dunstable Regional Middle School Families.  We are very excited to welcome your kiddos.   We had all of our teachers in the buildings Thursday and Friday. We are getting ready…. exciting times.  I think the start of the school year is more exciting than the start of the calendar year.

I have included some information that we think is important.

New Staff: Please help me in welcoming to the Middle School

  • Gabby Ali as our North Admin Assistant

  • Jacob Petersen as our Chorus/General Music teacher

  • Jessica MacPherson our new Paraprofessional

  • Emily Finch our new Paraprofessional

  • Sarah Dromgoole Special Education Teacher

First day of school:

5th grade students will enter the Stoddart building and go to the PAC

6th grade students will enter the Stoddart and go to the Gym

7th and 8th enter and head to the Advisory.   There will be a lot of adults to help.

  • Picture day is Thursday September 10th.

Some school expectations-

  • Phones are off and away

  • No gum chewing in school

  • Bathroom expectations: As a middle school, we continue to experience challenges regarding bathroom use. These issues include vandalism, excessive frequency, prolonged absences from class, and using bathroom breaks simply to wander. To help address this, we are introducing a new bathroom log system across all grade levels. Implementation details may vary slightly by grade, but generally, students will still be permitted to use the restroom as needed.

Start time, The Middle School start time is 8:02 with an end time at 2:32.  Students who do drop off will be permitted to get out of the car at 7:52.

  • Morning Drop Off:  When dropping off your student(s) in the morning, please come in the main driveway, turn to the left and follow the tree line all the way around the Twomey center. Follow the line of travel to the right around the parking lot behind the North building, letting  your student(s) out between the administrators who are standing outside. Then proceed around that parking lot and back around the Twomey Center to the rear of the North building. Students will be allowed to depart cars starting at 7:52 a.m. Please pull up to the administrator if you are the first car.  I know you may really want to drop your student(s) at the sidewalk but please don’t.  This really holds up our line.  This is so important so that all students can get into the building on time.  Also, as soon as we start to unload cars, let your child(ren) out of the car.

Buses, If you have questions about bus routes, stops etc please direct these calls to Dee Bus. Bus Contact Erica Renna

School Supplies, The Middle School PTO has put together a Toolkit for easy 1 stop shopping for school supplies.  Here the PTO website

If you wish to shop on your own the supply lists are below

Breakfast and Lunch, Breakfast is will continue to be available in both buildings this fall as a Grab and Go.  When students enter the building, in the Stoddart they can get breakfast from the cafe and in the North there will be a kiosk set up in the conference room off the lobby.  Students will grab breakfast head to their lockers and then to Advisory. New this year is Lunch on early releases.  There will be time in our schedule for students to head to the cafe and pick up a preordered lunch if their parents or guardians ordered it and if they need it.  They will eat lunch in their classroom.  This will be a light and nutritious lunch offering.
