Good Afternoon Groton Dunstable Regional Middle School Families.
I hope you are taking the time to relax and share moments with family and friends. The summer season can be filled with activities, yet it remains incredibly rejuvenating. July was a wonderful month for me, filled with enjoyable experiences alongside friends and family at concerts, the lake, the beach, and the Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show.
Important topics for you to know:
GDRMS Core Values. If you are new to middle school our Core Values are..
Ownership:
Own your space
Own your learning
Own your behavior.
Awareness:
Be aware of yourself and others
Be aware of your surroundings
Be aware of your impact
Kindness:
Be kind to yourself
Be kind to each others
Be kind to your surroundings
We strive to use these core values in everything we do at the middle school. Please feel free to use them at home. We believe these are important characteristics for our students to embody.
Mr. Day and Mr. Fleming have been hard at work preparing our 26-27 student schedules. It is our hope to have schedules ready for viewing by Friday August 14th but it could be the 17th. You never know what could happen with technology.
We have set our Annual 5th grade Ice Cream Social for Wednesday August 19th at 3:00 in the Stoddart Cafeteria. Our incoming 5th grade students and any new students who would like to meet some peers and get a tour are invited to attend. This has historically been a great event and we look forward to seeing you there.
Start time, The Middle School start time is 8:02 with an end time at 2:32. Students who do drop off will be permitted to get out of the car at 7:52. Our drop off route is as follows:
You enter the driveway and take an immediate left. Follow the treeline around the back of the North building and drop off between the two buildings. Please do not wait to drop off at the sidewalk. It is imperative that students get out of the cars 8ish cars at a time. If every parent waited to pull up to the sidewalk students would be very late to school. If you are new to the process we are out there and can assist.
School Supplies, The Middle School PTO has put together a Toolkit for easy 1 stop shopping for school supplies. Here the PTO website
If you wish to shop on your own the supply lists are below
Breakfast and Lunch, Breakfast is will continue to be available in both buildings this fall as a Grab and Go. When students enter the building, in the Stoddart they can get breakfast from the cafe and in the North there will be a kiosk set up in the conference room off the lobby. Students will grab breakfast head to their lockers and then to Advisory. New this year is Lunch on early releases. There will be time in our schedule for students to head to the cafe and pick up a preordered lunch if their parents or guardians ordered it and if they need it. They will eat lunch in their classroom. This will be a light and nutritious lunch offering.
School Counselors, This coming year our school counselor setup will look a bit different. The school counselor assignments are as follows.
Grade 5 is going to split amongst our school counselors
Ms. Ascione: Grade 6 and Kieda/Fournier for grade 5 with a split of the Solitro/Chaple team
Ms. Bryant: Grade 7 and Lefebvre/Gannon for grade 5 with a split of the Solitro/Chaple team
