Family Memo

Hello Middle School families.  I hope you have a great weekend.

7th graders went to Teamworks today in Acton and came back saying that they had a great time.  Thank you for your support of this trip.

Mr. St. Germain, one of our grades 7 & 8 PE teachers, is currently developing a golf unit for our students as part of our physical education curriculum. The goal of this unit is to introduce students to lifelong recreational activities while teaching important skills such as coordination. He is looking for used right- and left-handed golf clubs to kick-start our unit. Please reach out with any questions or if you're able to donate, astgermain@gdrsd.org. Thank you!

The Office Phone, I wanted to put a bug in your ear now about the use of the office phone.  Our students use the office phone all day long to call home. They call for forgotten shoes and homework.  They call to go home.  They call to ask about wanting to go to a friend's house etc.

I would like to move us away from this phone usage.

I understand that there will be an occasional need but I think as a team we need to teach our children to be more responsible for their belongings and maybe once they have a logical consequence about sneakers or homework it won’t happen again.  Your partnership will be important to the success of this shift.  I will look to firm up a procedure over the summer but for now I want you to know this is something I am thinking about.

MCAS- DONE!!!!

4th grade families,  Our music department did a presentation at the elementary schools this past Monday. Ms. Jarvis and Mr. O’Donohue should be sending out a form for you to enter your child’s request for music. Every student takes either General Music, Band, or Chorus.  If your child is on an IEP or receives other services they may not have space for a music class.  We must give all students PE/Health and then we work from there.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to myself or Mr. Day.  Here is the link to fill out. Please have this completed by Wednesday June 3rd.  Thank you

Lunch - For next year DESE has announced that schools need to provide lunch on ½ days.  Please be on the lookout for more information.  This will be a meal that must be ordered ahead of time for students to pick up and take to class.
