Hello Middle School families.  I hope you have a great weekend.

Thursday March 26th is our 5th Annual Staff Vs Student basketball game. Start time is right after school. 2:45-4:00 The cost to get into the game is $ 5.00 all students are welcome.  

  • Back again this year at half-time of the game is Chuck-a-Duck. Buy a duck and take a chance at winning a “Half-Day of Fun” basket of goodies including gift cards. Ducks will be sold during advisory Monday March 23rd through Wednesday March 25th. Ducks are $5 each or 3 for $10.

The 5th grade is going to Nature’s Classroom at Groton Wood on 3/31 and 4/1. This is a reminder that we need permission slips and payment by March 23rd.  If you need financial assistance please reach out to me directly.  wsalvatore@gdrsd.rog Thank you 

Grade 8 information: 

The Moving Up ceremony will be Monday night June 15th.

Washington DC and stay home trips June 2-5.

GDRHS Scheduling

  • March 21 (Sat)- March 29th(Sun): Students see recommendations and are able to enter course requests in Schoolbrains(Student Portal Only!!)

  • March 29 (Sun):  Last day to make selections.

  • March 30 (Mon): Course Level Change Forms due and scheduling system locked to students

  • March 30 - Apr 8:  High school counselors will start meeting with students to review course selections, check the number of credits and confirm if a CLCF is required.

  • Summer 2026 Schedules issued to students.

Families looking for tutoring:

  • The Dunstable and Groton Public Libraries keep flyers and contact info for local tutors at the front desk. Staff at the libraries should be able to assist in sharing the contacts that they have, or families can review the flyers that are posted on their own.

  • The Prescott Center has been running homework help sessions after school with the support of students from the High School. Families can check the schedule of events at Prescott, or can connect with their programming manager for options.

  • Adam Snodgrass at the High School is the advisor for National Honor Society and can connect families with students who are interested/available for tutoring.

GDMS PTO Events

BATTLE OF SPARE CHANGE IS COMING MARCH 23!

Be sure to collect all the loose coins around the house to help your grade win this year's Battle of Spare Change!

This event puts the fun back in fundraising and helps GDMS PTO fund teacher appreciation week events. This year we will reward the winning grade and MVP grade (the grade with the most in person donations) with ice cream during lunch.

GDMS PTO DAY AT FENWAY - EARLY BIRD SPECIAL ALERT

The 6th grade had its Rock-Paper-Scissors competition this week and the winning Advisory was Mr. Cawley 9-3. Big shout out to all of our grade 6 teachers and students for a fun competition.  Stay tuned for our school wide Rock-Paper-Scissors competition organized by our Student Council.

Counseling Corner:

8th grade information: Please refer to the GDRMS counseling website for updates. The 8th grade students will participate in an assembly with the high school counselors on March 19th to learn about courses and scheduling. Please click here for GDRHS scheduling information.  Parents are encouraged to attend an 8th Grade Parent Scheduling Information Presentation at 6:00PM on March 19 at the high school.  Both students and parents will receive a course selection form on March 19th.  

If your child has been accepted to another school and is planning on attending that school for 9th grade, please email Mrs. Lynette Fisher at lfisher@grsd.org and Ms. Patty Ascione at pascione@gdrsd.org. Informing us now will help ensure that your child’s school records are sent to the correct school. If you do not inform us, school records will automatically be sent to GDRHS. Here is the GDRMS release of information that needs to be completed and returned to Mrs. Fisher.

MCAS dates 

  • ELA 4/13 & 4/14 (all grades)

  • Science 5/12 & 5/13 (grades 5 & 8)

  • Math 5/19 & 5/20 (all grades)

  • Civic 5/27 (grade 8) back to back if we can (TBD)

 

Core Values: We are our new Core Values for the Middle School.  Teachers and staff worked on these together last year.  We will have students help us design posters over the course of the school year.
