Hello Middle School families. I hope you have a great weekend.
Drop Off and Pick up - Parents please do not drop your children off in the parking lot. Friday morning when I was at the drop off line I observed 5 different cars dropping their children off in the parking lots, our big parking lot and the small lot between Stoddart and Flo Ro. We have a drop off route so that our students and staff are safe. We can not have students cutting between cars during pick up and drop off. As an add on we have Flo Ro and central office staff who all come in at different times this can be dangerous. Please adhere to the drop off routes. Thanks so much.
I know I sent a separate email about what is happening with the PTO and I am including it here. Our Middle School PTO does so much for us at the MS we could really use your support.

GDMS PTO DAY OF SERVICE
As part of our mission to build community, and in the spirit of the giving season, we are planning a Winter Family Day of Service. We will be collecting supplies to support Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization providing essential items to children from birth through age 12 who are living in homeless or low-income situations. Once all items have been collected, we will have a packing day in early January, in which students and their families can help put together complete backpacks for donation.
For more information on how to donate items please check out our website!
----------
GD FUNd
As we continue through the giving season, please consider including GDMS PTO in your charitable donations. As a non-profit organization, GDMS PTO runs exclusively on donations and we are extremely grateful for anything you might be able to contribute. All of the funds we raise help us execute our mission of building a connected middle school community for all of our kids. Head to our website (www.gdmspto.com) or donate directly.

QUICK CHAT SURVEY
Later this winter, GDMS PTO will begin hosting monthly 30-minute "Quick Chats" for parents to connect with each other and discuss a variety of topics. We are seeking your input as we plan these sessions to ensure they are helpful conversations, rather than another meeting to try and attend. Please share your feedback now!

Project Mitten
5th & 6th grade will have an assembly on Wednesday morning in the PAC where our Student Council students will read the book, Project Mitten, written by Jan Brett, to learn about the initiative and what activities are planned for their grade.
So far Grade 6, had their annual Turkey Trot on Tuesday and raised 216.00. They also have Activities planned for the month of December. There is an attempt to try something new this year with a book drive. We are really looking forward to that.
Grade 7 will be doing their Munchie Market again this year. This was a huge success the last few years. This year we even got our own Middle School Popcorn Machine.
Grade 8 8th Grade Raffle Baskets will be raffling off baskets designed by the students as a fundraiser for Project Mitten and the 8th grade class. These baskets will be on display at parent conferences and we are starting to sell tickets on Monday 11/24 so if anyone is interested they can ask any 8th grade student or teacher for tickets and information .We are super excited about this project.
Help for the holidays, For some people in our community, the holiday season can be anything but happy. If you are a family with school aged children and are experiencing financial difficulties, please remember that the Community Children's Fund can help with gifts, food, and winter clothing. If you would like to experience the joy of giving during this upcoming holiday season the Community Children's Fund would be able to offer several different options.
To participate in either of these holiday traditions, giving or receiving please contact Karen Tuomi at 978-877-6787, trustfunds@grotonma.gov or visit the Trust Fund office located at GDRMS, Stoddart building. Confidentiality is strictly maintained.
