Family Memo

Hello Middle School families. I hope you have a great weekend.

Things to know:

Digital Citizenship Week is October 20–24, 2025! Common Sense Education is running a Digital Citizenship Week, In the age of AI, helping kids maintain their digital well-being has never been more important. For this year's  Digital Citizenship week they have brand-new, updated resources that address these issues with engaging activities that our students can enjoy.

  • Our 6th grade team is going to incorporate some of these lessons into their Advisory during this week.  It is so important that we are all learning about AI and how it can help us.

Grade 8 to the Outsiders; RSVP Needed: The Outsiders Musical Field Trip (April 8th).  Your student’s Advisory teacher should have shared with you an email about the 8th grade students taking a trip to Boston in April to go see the Outsiders.  Please RSVP Form  so that we can get a number and move forward from there.  Thank You!

Reminders:

Student Council: We are looking to start a middle school Student Council.  This council will be open to 6th and 8th grade students.  We liked this idea of the “upper classmen” in each building giving the 5th and 7th grades something to work toward.  Please see the link Applications were due today.

GD and North Middlesex SEPACs are hosting a workshop with a focus on ADHD both in and outside the classroom, preschool thru high school. The workshop will be held at North Middlesex High School on October 28th at 7pm. You can find more information on our website.

Counseling Corner, please see the link here about what is happening with our counseling department.  Some things to note - our counselors will be offering friendship groups during lunch and there is information regarding the 8th grade comings and goings  for private and tech schools.

On October 23rd, from 6-8 in the PAC Officer Wayne will be hosting an E-Bike safety presentation.  All are invited. Link to the flyer

Dunstable Grade 8 Families:

  • Ms. Ascione met with all Dunstable 8th graders on September 24, 2025, to discuss Greater Lowell Technical High School.  Information about the school and the permission slip was given to the students.   For those interested, a tour will take place on October 16 during the school day.

The bus will depart the middle school at 8:15 am and return by 11:00 am.

  • Students should return signed permission slips to their child's Advisory teacher or Ms Ascione as soon as possible.  Students attending the tour will be responsible for the classwork that was missed in the morning.   Please be aware that Nashoba Valley Technical High School is not accepting any school choice applications this year.  Thank you.

Groton Grade 8 Families;

  • Groton 8th Graders attended a short presentation on October 7th at the PAC  to hear about Nashoba Valley Technical High School and had an opportunity to ask questions.

  • If your child would like to attend the tour during school on Friday, October 30, please sign a permission slip and return it to  Ms Ascione,  school counselor,  or the Advisory teacher by Friday, October 24th.  The bus leaves the middle school at 8:15 and will be back by  11:00.

  • Students are responsible for making up work that was missed that morning.

  • In addition, there is an Open House at Nashoba Technical on November 2 from 12-3 pm. Families who are interested are encouraged to visit the school to learn more. Thank you.
