Family memo

Hello Middle School families. I hope you have a lovely weekend.  How much snow do you have in GD?  I have about a foot at my house.

New Information:

  • Drop off, We noticed this past week that some families have been dropping their students off in the parking lot where teachers park.  This is not the procedure for drop off.  All students should be dropped off by circling behind the North building.  Thank you.  This is for student safety.

  • Holiday Stroll,  Our World of Difference students have put together a Holiday Stroll for this Friday.  Students will have the opportunity to learn about  different cultural holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, St Lucia, Kwanzaa, New Years, St. Nikolaus Tag, Diwali, Los Pasados, Bodhi Day, Chinese New Year, and German Market.

  • As a reminder Ski Club starts on the 9th. That is this coming Tuesday.   This means drop off will be a little different.  Parents with skiers will be dropping off behind the south building.  Ms.Copeland did send out all of the information for our ski club families.   But, if you’re wondering why you see cars near the south building that is why.

  • Project Mitten, As of  January 2 our Middle School Community raised $5,039.53!  Nice job team.

  • Best Buddies, That best buddies will be meeting on Wednesday January 10th from 2:30-3:30 in the north cafe. Parent pick should be promptly at 3:30.  The link to sign up is bestbuddies.org/join

  • There will be a Sprint and Hurdle Clinic

This clinic will help athletes learn more about their event(100m/200m/400m/100Hurdles), teach the fundamentals, and get ready for outdoor track season. Run by the Middle School Coaches and GD High School Track Athletes. All proceeds go towards the Middle School Track Program.

2/20-2/22 Tues-Thurs  12:30-2  MS South or North  Cap at 50 athletes Grade 6-8.

Reminders:

  • The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF) is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting innovative and inspiring grants to enhance the quality of our students’ education. In the last academic year, GDEF awarded 12 grants across district schools totaling over $16,000 (information about all funded projects can be found here). If you or any loved ones are looking to make a year-end donation that will have an impact on your children's education, please consider donating to GDEF here. Your donations are directly returned to the hands and minds of students in the form of science, arts, technology, math, literacy, social-emotional learning, and civics programming.
