Family memo

Hi Middle School families, I hope you had a  great weekend.

What does community look, feel and sound like? From  Ms. Lundstrom’s 6th grade Advisory: Community looks like people cooperating, feels peaceful and sounds like people compromising.

New Information:

  • Reminder to parents: We have noticed a lot of students bringing in candy and sugary drinks for snack.  Please send your student to school with a healthy snack and a refillable bottle of water.

  • Best Buddies large group will meet in the North cafeteria after school next Wednesday, March 8 from 2:30 to 3:30. We will be creating arts and crafts and celebrating each others' art.

  • March 17th is an early release day for students.  It has been ear-marked for spring parent-teacher conferences.  Please note that it’s a 2.5 hour window and the teacher’s time is limited for conferencing. This is an opportunity for teachers and families who have matters they want to discuss, to touch base.  This is not a time to simply check in if your child is doing well.  As always, thank you for your support.

  • Middle School Website, If you do not already check out our middle school website you should.  Weekly I add pictures of some of the activities that our students are doing in school.  This memo is informational but if you want to see some of our fun stuff check out our livefeed.

  • GDEF's Annual Trivia Night is Saturday, March 25th, 8:00-9:30 pm. Hosted for the 4th year by Trivia Brothers, it's sure to be a fun challenge! The event is virtual so teams of up to 8 players can log in separately or gather to play together- your choice! Tickets are $20 per person.

    • Funds raised from Trivia Night go directly back to the Groton-Dunstable community as grants for innovative educational experiences in all five district schools. For more information and to buy tickets go to https://www.gdefinc.org/tnp

    • In addition, GDEF has partnered with Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza (201 Constitution Ave, Littleton, MA) on Saturday March 25, 2023, from 11:30 am-10:00 pm. Mention GDEF when you dine in or take out and 20% of your meal’s price is donated back to GDEF!  https://www.groupraise.com/events/241164

    • So on March 25th, have fun playing trivia, enjoy pizza from Anthony’s, or do both- all while helping GDEF raise money to grant to our school community!

  • SEPAC: Please join the Groton-Dunstable Special Education Parents Advisory

Council (SEPAC) Tuesday March 14th at the Twomey Center from 7 pm - 9 pm

for our Desserts and Discussion Event. It was rescheduled from Tuesday February 28th due to inclement weather.

PTO:

  • Square 1 Art has partnered with Groton Dunstable Middle School to create a unique opportunity to celebrate students’ artistic accomplishments while raising extra funds for our school!

  • Coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. You will have the opportunity to purchase keepsakes with your child’s artwork for family and friends. The school earns profit from every order! As a thank you for participating, we will provide each child with a sheet of stickers imprinted with their artwork - absolutely FREE!   Art work is due 3/20/23

  • Watch for more details about the fundraiser and order deadlines. All online and paper order forms must be turned in by the due date on your child’s custom catalog. (No late orders can be accepted.) Together, we can help support our school, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements!
