PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
After four days to recharge our batteries, we have been able to settle into somewhat of a routine. Less schedules are being changed, fewer housekeeping interruptions are necessary, tryouts for the fall play are underway and so too are the first games for our teams.
With only four days of school this week, I, along with some students I spoke with, kept forgetting what day it was only to be surprised that Friday was upon us! Next week we will see a regular 5-day week with assessments, homework, and students really being pressed to manage the demands they face. One of our Core Values is Balance. It is important for each student to find theirs. It is not the same for everyone and we see students unnecessarily overburdened, which can really present challenges to the mind, body, and spirit. Wade through the clutter, find what is important, and spend your time and energy doing it.
Part of that Balance is doing something you are passionate about so the necessary things are much easier to manage. We will have our Activities Fair next Tuesday. Over 40 clubs ,organizations ,and teams will be represented. There is something for everyone so don't let your day end at 2!

½ day lunch
During our ½ day, we are now required to serve lunch as part of the school day. However, because we serve a full breakfast, a “Grab + Go” type reduced lunch will be offered as students head to their last block. This is included as part of our lunch program and students will still need to input their number to receive lunch.
Seal of Biliteracy!
We are very proud to announce that GD will participate in The State Seal of Biliteracy. It is an official award established by the Commonwealth to recognize graduating high school seniors who demonstrate high proficiency in English and one or more other languages. This honor celebrates native speakers who maintain their home language while learning English as well as students learning a second language

Graduation Date June 4th.
Although the initial date for graduation was mistakenly set before Memorial Day, we will continue to have graduation as we always have done, on the Friday after Memorial Day, June 4, 2026.
PSAT Exam Information for Juniors

Time: Arrival at 7:00 AM (ends before lunch)
Eligibility: Open to GDRHS school Juniors
Cost: $25 per student
Technology Requirements
GDRHS Students: Must bring and test on their school-issued Chromebook.
Homeschool Students: Must bring an approved testing device with the Bluebook application pre-installed.

BAE Systems FOCUS opportunity
BAE Systems is excited to share that they are now accepting applications from high school students interested in participating in their Fall 2026 Session of FOCUS (Fostering Opportunities and Careers Utilizing STEM). FOCUS is an 11-week in person program that provides opportunities for students to explore careers in STEM by participating in curriculum and hands-on activities that introduce them to engineering concepts.
The program takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at the Nashua facility. Students in grades 9-12 with an interest in STEM are welcome to apply.
