PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
With our first week under our belt, we all can exhale a bit as we enjoy the extra long weekend!
We ushered in the Class of 2030 with 2 end of day assemblies and lots of help getting them to their classes. Thanks to all of the Orientation leaders who helped guide our newest students during the day and get them all on the right bus.
The students and staff did an outstanding job during our safety drills. We evacuated the building and were all accounted for very quickly according to the staff from the Groton Fire Department. Great job! It is no wonder why parents, students and staff all ranked highly how safe the students are when they are at GD. These drills are taken seriously by everyone and today it showed. Hopefully, we can begin to settle into our routines next week with many housekeeping items behind us.
One of the special traditions of our school is the Activities fair. This will take place on Sept 15th. All students will be exposed to over 40 clubs, activities and teams and have the chance to express their interest in taking advantage of these opportunities. Don’t Let Your Day End At 2!!
Chromebooks:
All 9th graders and new students were given a new Chromebook. Sophomores should have traded in their old Chromebooks for a new one. If anyone has not received one, please go to the main office or the library so we can manage this for you.

Graduation Date June 4th
Although the initial date for graduation was mistakenly set before Memorial Day, we will continue to have graduation as we always have done, on the Friday after Memorial Day, June 4, 2026.
From the HS Drama Guild:
The GDRHS Drama Guild has an exciting season planned and we are now preparing for auditions for our fall production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Performances are scheduled for November 5, 6, and 7 through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 8 starting at 4:00pm in the Black Box Theater. We will post all audition materials on our google classroom page. If high school students have any questions about auditions and/or the Fall Show, please be sure to contact the director, Ms. McKenzie at kmckenzie@gdrsd.org.

BAE Systems FOCUS opportunity
BAE Systems is excited to share that they are now accepting applications from high school students interested in participating in their Fall 2026 Session of FOCUS (Fostering Opportunities and Careers Utilizing STEM). FOCUS is an 11-week in person program that provides opportunities for students to explore careers in STEM by participating in curriculum and hands-on activities that introduce them to engineering concepts.
The program takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at the Nashua facility. Students in grades 9-12 with an interest in STEM are welcome to apply.

Yearbook
Hello seniors! This is a reminder to submit your senior portrait by October 31st. If you haven’t taken one yet, schedule your session now with a photographer. The weather is only getting colder from here on out!
Remember to match the specifications for the portraits: a head-and-shoulders shot with you looking directly into the camera. When submitting your photo, make sure it’s high-resolution and name the file with your first and last name. Use this link to submit your senior portrait to Varsity Yearbook.
