PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
The Girls Basketball team made the Clark tournament, our first Musical in many years, Little Shop of Horrors, rehearsals are up and running and semester II is underway! The only thing that hasn’t really changed is the cold temperature.
The snow has remained mostly white and that blanket which adds so much to the scenery as I travel through the backroads of Groton & Dunstable. I am grateful to live in New England because of the opportunity to appreciate the four seasons but also have been blessed with cheering on the Patriots in the SuperBowl once again.
In the winter doldrums, we try to look for those little nuggets that recharge our batteries or put a smile on our faces. The home team in the SuperBowl and the Winter Olympics can do that. Watching students on a court, ice, mat, stage, studio or even just congregating after school in the commons, serve as positive examples that make up the high school experience and also lifts our spirits. For the teachers and staff, we had our monthly faculty meeting Wednesday and also had a half day of professional development Friday. Katie Novak, a parent of three students currently at GD and “a seasoned educator, global keynote speaker, instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, and a leading voice in Universal Design for Learning and MTSS” (Novak Education) volunteered to share her expertise with us. The excitement she has generated around teaching all students has already begun to add value as teachers look to improve strategies in the classroom. Thanks to Katie and our staff for upping our game in providing an engaging experience for our students.
There were lots of students and staff wearing Patriots gear or Red, White + Blue for the Opening of the Olympics. It’s a great way to Kick Off our last week before vacation.
Go Pats!!
We are GD!!
