LOOKING FOR A HOST FAMILY

We have a foreign exchange student registered for the 23/24 school year.  Shengqi was born in China but has resided in England since he was five years old so his English is excellent.  He will be a freshman and he loves basketball and football.  He is looking for a family to host him on his journey here.  If you would like more information about hosting an international student contact Mary Cain, mcain@gdrsd.org.

DONATIONS FOR UKRAINE

GDRHS is rallying for our last shipment to Ukraine this year.  Students and concerned staff/community members have been collecting GENTLY USED summer and spring clothing to be shipped directly to families in need.  We particularly need LIGHTWEIGHT shoes, blankets, toothbrushes, and floss.   Items for any size, any gender, and any age are greatly appreciated. We hope to have all donations sorted and on their way by the end of May.  If you would like to make a cash donation toward shipping costs, please email treynolds@gdrsd.org.

CLASS OF 2024 SENIOR PORTRAIT INFORMATION

To the families of the Class of 2024:

You need to begin planning now for your senior portrait photo session.

We held an assembly for the junior class during WIN Block on 4/25/23 and gave juniors this senior portrait information sheet, which contains the deadline and the specifications for the portrait you will submit to the yearbook.

Please note, your photographer will take many different photos during your session, one of which should follow the specifications on our yearbook information sheet. That's the one you will submit to the yearbook.

You are, of course, free to choose other prints from your photo session for your family and friends. For the yearbook, we need to have consistency among the 176 photos seniors submit so we can fit your photos into the layout of our photo boxes, so your heads within the box will be the same relative size to those of your classmates when your photos are placed next to each other on a page, and so the position of everyone's heads on a page together will be similar.

The deadline for submitting your senior portrait for the yearbook is October 31, 2023.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING PROGRAM

The Groton Dunstable Regional School District has been working with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to monitor and review our English Language Learning Programming.  As part of this process, several educators and administrators will be participating in virtual interviews and we have also submitted records to the department for review.  If you have any questions about this review process or have something you would like to contribute about our English Language Learning Program, please contact your building principal with your feedback so that it can be shared with Kristin DeFrancisco, the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment.

GROTON-DUNSTABLE STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CLUB

The GD Strength and Conditioning club relies on the hard work and dedication of its athletes and participants. They will be taught proper kinetics and how they apply to human health and movement both on and off the field of play. This is taught through a series of exercises ranging from weight lifting (Olympic & Power lifts), to plyometrics, and core focused movements and poses. The result of proper instruction and execution of these exercises will lead to a decrease in the occurrences of potential sports injuries, increases in physical performance (strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance, and core stability), added confidence not only physically but socially, and an overall healthier body and mind.
