Dear Florence Roche Families,

We ended the week with a performance by our talented high school chorus.  Earlier in the week, students were treated to a high school band performance as part of our annual holiday festivities across the district.  This week also included a lockdown drill as part of our yearly safety planning.  Students and staff responded to a scenario that required them to understand the situation and react in a way that would keep everyone safe.  Representatives from the Groton Police Department were on site to assist in our drill.  Their feedback on our performance was very positive.  They noted how everyone took the drill seriously and responded to their teachers’ directions.  I’m not one to brag, but I have to say that Officer Pete let us know that we were a model school for the district.  Go FloRo!

Here is some important information and guidance from our health office:

The incidence of influenza, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus),  Covid-19, and the common cold are on the rise in many communities.  We wanted to remind you of ways to help keep your family and the Florence Roche community healthy.

  • Keep your child home if they have a fever.  They must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or Ibuprofen prior to returning to school.

  • If your child has vomited or had loose stools within the past 24 hours, or has a persistent cough they must remain home.

  • If your child has bacterial conjunctivitis or strep throat they must remain home until they have been on antibiotics for 24 hours.

  • Test for Covid-19 if your child has any  COVID-19 symptoms If they test positive follow the Isolation Guidelines

  • Encourage your child to wash their hands often-wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

  • Encourage your child to cover their coughs and sneeze with their elbow or tissue

  • If you plan on being in a very crowded area, like the mall or an airport, consider wearing a mask to protect yourself and your child.

  • Consider getting the influenza vaccine  Flu Vaccine Locations

Thank you for helping us keep Florence Roche and your family healthy.
