Math Game in Grade 1

November 10, 2022

Dear Florence Roche Families,

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can get out and enjoy the upcoming long weekend.  For the veteran’s in our community, we give thanks for your service and appreciate the sacrifices made to support our freedom.  A parent stopped by this week to share about his experience in the service to a couple of our 1st grade classrooms.  This was a nice opportunity for our students to learn about what it means to be a veteran.

As the temperatures become seasonably cooler through the month of November, students will be coming to school with sweatshirts and jackets.  Please remember to label your student’s outerwear, so that it can be easily identified and returned.  Students often take their jackets or sweatshirts off when playing during recess and leave them on the playground.  The lost and found will start to collect all of these forgotten garments.  Please help us return them to the rightful owner by labeling your student’s belongings

School pictures were sent home with students this week.  If your student did not have their picture taken on 10/6, the photographer will be back on 11/29 for make ups and any desired retakes.  Please follow the instructions on your student’s photo envelope for any retake requests.  Contact the office if you have any questions.

Our literacy team is hosting a parent/guardian coffee on November 29th from 9:00-10:00am.  This is your opportunity to get to know our reading specialists and the work they do to support early literacy development at Florence Roche.  The team is looking forward to sharing ways they can support you with strategies for literacy development at home.  Please take this brief survey to rsvp for the event and select the topics of greatest interest to you.  The specialists will review the survey data and tailor their presentation to meet your needs.   Google Survey: Literacy Event

Invitations and reminders will be sent out as the big day gets closer.  You don’t want to miss the exciting event!

Our kitchen manager is letting me know that the parent ordering of school lunch online has been working better recently.  Thank you for your support with this process.  An additional request for your help in this process is to inform your child of their lunch selection for that day.  Many students are coming through the line not knowing if they are a hot lunch (main entree) or one of the 2-3 a la carte options.  You are signing up correctly for these choices, but the students aren’t sure what they were signed up for.  This is causing a significant slow down to the serving process and impacts the time students have to eat their lunch.  Thank you for partnering with us to make this a smooth process.

I hope you all enjoy the long weekend and thank you to all of the veterans in our community.

Brian
