Book Character Day!

October 28, 2022

Dear Florence Roche Families,

It was a storybook day at Florence Roche today!  Literally, students and staff came dressed as book characters.  Our celebration of literacy was a nice ending to the fall book fair.  Thank you to the many parents and our PTA for coordinating and running this event all week long.  We truly appreciate all of the new books received throughout our classrooms from your generous donations.  Our front office team fittingly donned the attire of construction workers as we represented the book, Building Our New School.

A big THANK YOU! to our 4th grade parents for providing the staff with breakfast treats this morning.  It was such a nice way to start our fun Friday.

Students were busy with some special activities this week.  Our grade 2 poets celebrated all of their hard work creating, revising and editing their original poems by sharing with peers and adults.  It was great to see their enthusiasm for writing poetry.  A group of our 1st graders headed over to the Groton Public Library to learn all about what their local public library has to offer.  Thanks to the GPL for accessing a grant to make this happen.  Kindergarten paleontologists explored dinosaur fossils through an experience provided by the Acton Discovery Museum.  Thank you to the Groton Commissioners of Trust for funding this opportunity.

Mrs. Kinneen is looking for donations of gently worn sneakers to support a Children's Sneaker Drive to support The Wish Project in Chelmsford during the month of November.  Collection boxes will be in the lobby starting Monday and the Sneaker Drive will run through November 1-14th.
