April 1, 2022

Dear Florence Roche Families,

Happy April!  We made it through our day with just the right amount of April Fool’s fun.  I hope you do the same.

The PTA and a group of parent volunteers were busy this afternoon setting up for next week’s Scholastic Book Fair.  Information about this spring’s book fair went home recently.  Your student will visit the book fair during their scheduled library time next week.  Reach out to the FloRo PTA if you are interested in any volunteer opportunities associated with the book fair.

The Term II student report cards are now available through your parent portal on SchoolBrains.  Make sure to review your student’s progress.  This is a great opportunity to have them self assess their performance and discuss with them their goals for the remainder of the year.  The home to school connection is powerful when our students know we are all working together to support their goals.

MCAS will begin in April for ELA and finish in May with math.  Here is the schedule again for your reference.  You can support your student at home by making sure they get plenty of rest the night before a scheduled test, have a good breakfast the day of the test, and arrive at school on time.  Thank you for your help.

We will be starting our class placement for 2022-2023 in early May.  As part of that process, we collect parent input as well.  You know your child best and can provide us with helpful information.  Please share your input on the Parent Placement Input form linked here.  You can either print it out and send in a hard copy to the office or make a copy of the form and email it directly to me.  Please remember that specific teacher requests are not able to be honored.  The form has specific questions for you to respond to.  Your input is due by 4/29/22.

Don’t forget…

Groton PD, GD Elementary Schools and Community Ed have partnered to bring you our First Annual Bike Rodeo!  It will be held on April 23 from 9am - 1pm at the GDRSD HS Football Field.  At this free event there will be fun challenging bike activities, ABC bike check and more!  Snacks and refreshments will be provided.  To pre-register for the event please visit: 2022 Bike Rodeo Registration .  We ask that you please register ahead but will accept registration on the day of.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Please contact Rachael Bielecki rbielecki@grotonma.gov with any questions or concerns
