3/11/22

Dear Florence Roche Families,

Today marks the end of our second term.  Over the next couple of weeks, teachers will be busy reviewing student progress and completing their report cards in SchoolBrains.  The student reports will be complete and available in the parent portal on Tuesday, March 29th.  Next Friday afternoon, 3/18/22, is an early release day for students with time set aside for parent conferences.

At the end of the month or early in April, the construction fencing is scheduled to go up around the back of our building.  We will no longer have access to our back field through the construction phase of our new school.  This is a very exciting time for us, but also presents us with challenges as we need to adapt to our new outdoor space limitations for recess and play.

Additionally, we need to plan for a safe building evacuation site as our former use of the back field is no longer an option.  The fire department recommended we evacuate to the middle school performing arts center (PAC).  On Thursday, we practiced this process with our first fire drill evacuation to the new location.  Teachers had practiced with their classes individually prior to our scheduled drill.  Everyone did a great job.  The fire department’s feedback focused on how safe and orderly students and staff evacuated the building and made their way to the PAC.

Some parents have been asking about students traveling on different buses now that the COVID situation is improving and restrictions are being lifted.  The bus company is asking us to continue following the NO bus pass rule though the end of the school year.  This practice will be reevaluated for the 2022/2023 school year.

The class of 2035 is coming!  We will once again host an in person kindergarten information session on Thursday, March 24th from 6:30-7:30pm in the Florence Roche gymnasium.  The kindergarten team and other relevant staff members will be in attendance to share information about our kindergarten program and answer your questions.  If you know of any incoming kindergarten students for next year, please help us spread the word about our information session.  Kindergarten registration will officially open on Friday, March 25th.

Here are the spring MCAS dates in case you missed them last week.
