Dear Florence Roche Families,
It was great to see so many of you at our PTA sponsored Welcome Back Picnic on Friday. This event was very well attended by both current and former FloRo students. It’s always nice to see the older siblings coming back and reconnecting with their teachers. A huge THANK YOU! to all of our PTA representatives who worked to make it a success.
Our next parent event on the calendar is Curriculum Night scheduled for Tuesday, September 28th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. This year grade levels will present information about their curriculum and grade level highlights as a team in the middle school south performing arts center (PAC). The larger setting will give parents space to spread out safely indoors.
Here is the evening schedule.
6:00-6:30 Grade 1
6:30-7:00 Grade 2
7:00-7:30 Grade 3
7:30-8:00 Grade 4
6:00-6:45 Specialists & Reading Staff (in the MS South Cafeteria)
7:00-7:45 Special Education Staff & Counselors (in the MS South Cafeteria)
The purpose of this evening is to provide you with a general overview of the grade level curriculum and highlights for the year. Classroom teachers will also share with you the structure of their day and the classroom expectations for academic, social and behavior performance. Individual parent and teacher conferences will be scheduled in late November and early December. However, you may at any time email your student’s classroom teacher with a question or concern.
This past week’s COVID safety check returned negative results for all of the samples tested. There were nearly 350 students and staff included in this week’s safety check.
We are looking for anyone interested in joining our pool of substitute teachers. This is a great way for you to support our work with students. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please email me at bodonoghue@gdrsd.org and I would be happy to answer any questions.
