Dear Florence Roche Families,

Welcome to the new school year!

I hope this finds everyone excited and eagerly awaiting the start of a great year ahead.  We have settled into our new building and look forward to having our students return to this amazing space for learning.  We are welcoming back 610 students with 24 new students joining us across grades 1-4.  In addition, we have 16 new staff members on our team in both full and part-time roles this year.  Make sure to check out the virtual meet the staff to learn all about us!

The first day of school for students in grades 1-4 is Wednesday, August 27th.  Kindergarten students' first day will be Thursday, August 28th.  There will be no school on Friday, August 29th and Monday, September 1st in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

The arrival and dismissal procedures will remain the same as last year.  The school has 2 driveways as you enter off of Route 119.  The buses will drop off and pick up following the driveway on the left.  Parent/guardian drop off and pick up will follow the driveway on the right.  The parent/guardian drop off and pick up will be a moving car line traveling around a traffic circle at the front of the building and exiting back down the driveway to Route 119.  The aerial photo shows the 2 driveways and their corresponding traffic circles.

The student day begins at 8:57 and ends at 3:22.  Arrivals after 8:57 will be recorded as tardy.  Staff members will be supervising the parent/guardian drop off beginning at 8:45.  Students can enter the building at 8:47.

The District will once again provide a no cost breakfast and lunch option for all students.  Breakfast is a “grab and go” style that the students pick up in the cafeteria and eat in their classrooms.  The breakfast program begins for students on Tuesday, 9/2.  Lunch will be served at no cost beginning on Wednesday, 8/27.  The menu is updated monthly and posted here on the district website.

We are always interested in partnering with our families.  Throughout the year there are volunteer opportunities within our classrooms and around the school.  We always have room for any parent or guardian interested in volunteering to support recess or with our lunch process in the cafeteria.  Please email me at bodonoghue@gdrsd.org if you are interested in learning more about any of our recess or lunch volunteer opportunities.

Please review this important information from our Health Office.
Welcome Back!

Access to the building for visitors during the school day will be through the front door.  A visitor will ring the bell on the outside of the building to be let into the foyer.  All first time visitors will need to have their license or identification card scanned into our system in order to access the building.  For any future visits, you will still need your license/ID to enter the building.  We have a kiosk in the foyer that will scan your license and a visitor badge will be printed for you in the office.  Parents or guardians who are simply dropping something off for a student or dismissing someone for an appointment will enter through the main entrance and our office staff will help you.

Enjoy these last days of the summer break!
