Dear Florence Roche Families,

We had an amazing Staff Appreciation Week!  Thank you to our PTA and the many parents working behind the scenes to make us feel so special.  A very special thank you to Vicki Azzolino, Laura Falardeau, Jillian Doyle, and Joey Tomaino for being here throughout the week setting up and breaking down the daily events.  We truly appreciate all of our families and what you do to make our school community special.  Thank you for all of the “Wicked” good times this week

We are excited to announce the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new school is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3rd at 4:00pm.  A student representative from each grade level will share their thoughts about our school during the ceremony.  I am working with classroom teachers to randomly select each student representative.  Families are invited to attend this celebration.  A detailed flier will be shared when we get closer to the date.

First grade students learned about aquatic insects that can be found in local ponds.  The Nashua River Watershed Association led this program which was funded through our PTA.  Ms. Johnson’s class had a special assistant helping out as Dr. Bruno filled in for one of our staff members as part of his “Golden Ticket” initiative.

Friday started with an all school meeting.  A group of 2nd and 3rd grade students welcomed us all by teaching us the greeting of “Good Morning” in American Sign Language.  We shared some thoughts about the upcoming Memorial Day holiday and two of our 4th graders recited the poem, “In Flanders Fields”.  We are planning our first Memorial Day assembly in our new school on Friday, May 23rd.

Girls on the Run

Parents, Jennifer Moore and Karla King, are leading a group of our 3rd and 4th grade girls in the Girls on the Run program.  GOTR is a national, non-profit program that aims to strenthen confidence in girls while making a connection between physical and emotional health.  The coaches invite staff and families to the middle school track on Wednesday, May 14th between 3:45-4:30.  The GOTR team will be competing in their practice 5K.  Come cheer on the girls!  There are 2 big events that culminate at the end of this year’s program.  A community impact project to benefit children at Seven Hills Pediatric Hospital in Groton and a celebratory 5K at the Boston Commons on May 31st.

    Math MCAS Reminder

Our 3rd and 4th graders will be completing the math portion of this year’s MCAS testing during the week of May 12th.  Please remember to have your student to school on time, rested and ready.  We appreciate your support at home.
