cardinals created in art class

Under the guidance of art teacher Mrs. Stoddard, first graders embarked on an artistic journey inspired by the iconic American artist Charley Harper. Known for his "Minimal Realism" approach, Harper simplified nature into basic shapes, captivating audiences worldwide.

Focusing on Harper's signature style of using flat, graphic shapes, our students are creating cardinals, a beloved symbol in the Ohio community where Harper lived. While some might see this as limiting, it fosters creativity, allowing each student to interpret the cardinal uniquely.

Join us as our first graders bring Harper's vision to life on canvas, celebrating the beauty of nature through their vibrant creations. In simplicity, they discover boundless creativity and a deeper connection to the world around them.
