3rd Grade Concert

June 2, 2023

Dear Florence Roche Families,

Happy June!  We are on the “homestretch” of our school year.  These last weeks and days are full of exciting end of year activities.  We have our grade level field days scheduled for next week.  I’ve been keeping my eye on the weather and my fingers crossed that any forecasted rain holds off for us.  Unless it’s a total washout, we will plan to go on with our field days as planned.  I’m hopeful for a few sunny days, so please remember to send your student to school with a hat, water bottle and apply your sunscreen at home.

Grade 3 students wowed the audience last night with their singing and recorder playing.  Thank you to Mr. Wiesner for preparing them and leading them through this memorable grade level concert.

We had a great group of bingo players in attendance at our 1st annual Bingo for Books event this week.  The Literacy Team coordinated this event with a goal of bringing families together to have fun and celebrate literacy.  Students went home with some new books for their summer reading.  A big thank you to Mr. Fahy for serving as the bingo caller!  This event was generously sponsored by a grant from the Groton Commissioners of Trusts.

4th grade students learned about sound and how sound waves travel.  I observed many excited students as they got to engage in a variety of hands-on learning experiences.  Thank you to our PTA for supporting this enrichment program through the Acton Discovery Museum.

The June episode of the FloRo News Report is ready to view.  This will be the last episode of our year.  Thank you to Mrs. Disch for working with our 4th grade students to produce this monthly news report.   FloRo News Report

Grade 4 parents and guardians are invited to an information session about the transition to grade 5 and middle school on Wednesday, June 7th.  Here is a link for more information Grade 4 Parent Information

Don’t Forget About the Lost and Found!

It’s time to come and check out the lost and found if your child is missing an article of clothing.  There are many hats, gloves, and other winter items that were left behind over the past months.  The lost and found will be cleaned out and donated at the end of the school year.

Last Call for Field Day!

Mrs. Kinneen has been busy with the planning of our annual student field days scheduled for June 5th-7th.  She is looking for volunteers to help with this fun event.  Here is the link to all of the details and to sign up.  Field Day 2023

LOOKING FOR A HOST FAMILY

The high school has a foreign exchange student registered for the 23/24 school year.  Shengqi was born in China but has resided in England since he was five years old so his English is excellent.  He will be a freshman and he loves basketball and football.  He is looking for a family to host him on his journey here.  If you would like more information about hosting an international student contact Mary Cain, mcain@gdrsd.org.

Have a nice weekend.
