Dear Florence Roche Families,

I hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend.  It looks like the weather will be beautiful, so lots of opportunities to get outside and bask in the sunshine!  Next week’s temperatures will be on the rise.  It will start to feel a little bit more like summer over these last weeks.  Please remember to send your student to school with a water bottle, so they will stay cool and hydrated.

The architect and design firms were with us on Monday and Tuesday of this week.  During a series of meetings with the staff representatives, we looked at the different furniture and equipment options available for our new building.  As the structure continues to grow behind us, it is exciting to visualize what our new space will look like on the inside.  Staff members will be testing out sample pieces of furniture before the end of this year, so that the procurement process can get underway early in the fall. Exciting times for all of us in the FloRo community!

Our student artists were well represented during this week’s GD Artsfest.  A big thank you to Ms. Stoddard and Mr. Wiesner for all of their work throughout the year that made this event a success for all!

Middle school students and administrators visited us this week.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, Ms. Salvatore and Mr. Day, accompanied by a few 5th grade leaders, visited our 4th graders to tell them some things about the middle school.  On Thursday, A World of Difference grade 7 and 8 leaders read books about kindness and acceptance in all of our classrooms.  This was an event planned by these students to honor and celebrate the Day of Difference.

Kindergarten students learned about aquatic life along the Nashua River through an experience led by the Nashua River Watershed Association.  This enrichment experience was generously funded by the Groton Commissioners of Trusts.

It’s time to come and check out the lost and found if your child is missing an article of clothing.  There are many hats, gloves, and other winter items that were left behind over the past months.  The lost and found will be cleaned out and donated at the end of the school year.

Mrs. Kinneen has been busy with the planning of our annual student field days scheduled for June 5th-7th.  She is looking for volunteers to help with this fun event.  Here is the link to all of the details and to sign up.  Field Day 2023

Our specialists are planning to host another virtual talent show for any interested students K-4.  Please read this attached flier for more details.  2023 Virtual Talent Show
