Dear Florence Roche Families,
Thank you to all of our families for spoiling us this week with so many treats. This was such a fun week for all of us and we truly appreciate all of your special attention. A very special thank you to Lauren Bowman for coordinating this event.
Grade 2 students learned about owls this week through the Eyes on Owls program. This very popular enrichment program is generously funded by our PTA.
Mrs. Kinneen has been busy with the planning of our annual student field days scheduled for June 5th-7th. She is looking for volunteers to help with this fun event. Here is the link to all of the details and to sign up. Field Day 2023
Our specialists are planning to host another virtual talent show for any interested students K-4. Please read this attached flier for more details. 2023 Virtual Talent Show
Grades 3 and 4 students will be completing the math MCAS assessments this week. Please make sure your student is well rested, eats a healthy breakfast, and gets to school on time. Students arriving after the classroom has started testing, will need to be scheduled for a make-up session.

Pollen season is upon us. We will continue to go outdoors for recess and additional movement breaks as needed. Our health office does not have the capacity to supervise students experiencing seasonal allergies during outdoor recess. Students not experiencing a priority medical issue should plan to go outside for recess. For specific medical questions, please contact our health office.
On Thursday, May 18th from 6:30-8:30pm Dr. Mina Burbridge from Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs joins us to discuss anxiety and depression look fors and strategies. This event is for all parents, guardians, and GDRSD staff members. Please join us in person at the Middle School South Auditorium located at 344 Main Street, Groton MA. Mark your calendars for a fun night supporting FloRo and GDRSD Arts. Monday, May 22nd kicks off our "Celebrate the Arts" week. Student artwork from across the district will be on display in the middle school. Florence Roche 4th gr., Swallow Union 4th gr., and the High School Chamber Choir will perform in the first concert of the week, May 22nd, at 7 pm, in the PAC

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The BINGO for Books family event is coming to Florence Roche (to be held at Middle School South) on Wednesday, May 31st. Join the literacy specialists as we play BINGO with the opportunity to win new books! Register for this event by May 19th, but space may be limited due to capacity. Please note: The BINGO boards will be sent home with your child a week before the event. You will need to make your own boards with the materials we send home PRIOR to the event.
GDYSC is excited about the return of soccer camp at Cow Pond this summer! Elite UK will be offering TWO week-long sessions, August 7 - 11 and August 21 - 25. This is a great local opportunity for your player to brush up their skills before the start of the fall season. The camp offers tots, half-day, and full-day options for players ages 5 - 14.
