Dear Florence Roche Families,
Welcome back to school and the home stretch of our school year. These last weeks will be busy and full of many exciting end of the year activities. I’m always amazed at how quickly our calendar passes when we return from April vacation.
We truly appreciate all of the support from our families. This morning we were surprised with a delicious spread of breakfast treats provided by our kindergarten families. Thank you!
Fourth grade students experienced a science enrichment program provided at no cost by Snapdragon Chemistry. Students learned about the chemical reaction with a base and an acid. They also had the opportunity to learn about a career in the sciences from those working in the field of chemistry.
Our counselors, Mrs. Cahill and Ms. Sullivan, will be piloting the Second Step social and emotional learning curriculum in each classroom K-4 beginning the week of May 1st. Please read this Second Step Parent Letter for more information.
Don’t Forget About the Bike Rodeo this Saturday!
GD is partnering with both the Groton and Dunstable police departments on Saturday, April 29 to host our second annual bike rodeo at GDRHS from 9a-1p. There will be a representative from MABikes conducting safety sessions for students preK-4 all day. Students will have the opportunity to bike through an obstacle course! We will be doing helmet fittings and giving away free helmets and bike lights for kids. The police officers will be talking about safety as well as having meet and greets with the kids. Last but not least, both PE teachers from the district will be assisting with the entire event. It is sure to be a great day!
On Thursday, May 18th from 6:30-8:30pm Dr. Mina Burbridge from Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs joins us to discuss anxiety and depression look fors and strategies. This event is for all parents, guardians, and GDRSD staff members. Please join us in person at the Middle School South Auditorium located at 344 Main Street, Groton MA.
