grade 4 field trip

April 7, 2023

Dear Florence Roche Families,

We have a busy week ahead as our grades 3 and 4 students will be participating in the annual MCAS testing for ELA.  Even though the assessments are only in grades 3 and 4, it really is a whole school effort.  We are flexible with our specialist schedules to accommodate a longer testing period in the morning to the benefit of our students.  Our grades K-2 students will be extra quiet as they work in their classrooms and travel through the building.  The entire K-4 teaching team has worked hard over their years to prepare students for these assessments.  It’s going to be great!

Here is next week’s MCAS schedule for your reference.  If your child is testing, please help us support their success by making sure they get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast and arrive at school on time.  Any student arriving at school after the testing begins, will need to be scheduled for a make-up test.

Friday, April 14th is class picture day.  Our photographer will be here to take pictures of each class.  Pictures will be taken outside weather permitting.  You do not need to sign up for anything or pay for anything.  Every student will be given a copy of their class picture at no charge.  This is a service provided by O’Connor Studios.

Grade 4 Students in Mr. Fahy, Mrs. Clark, and Mrs. Plunkett’s classes visited the Concord Museum this week.  Students learned about indigenous people living in this area prior to European colonization.  Thank you to the Groton Commissioners of Trust for funding this enrichment experience. The remaining 4th grade classes will have this experience on May 3rd.

Make sure to check out the latest FloRo News April Edition .  This month’s episode is brought to you by students from Mrs. Mills and Mr. Fahy’s classes

If you haven’t viewed your student’s Term II student report card yet, you can find it in your parent portal on SchoolBrains.

Class Placement and Parent Input Reminder - Due by 4/24/23

We will be starting our class placement for 2023-2024 in early May.  As part of that process, we collect parent input as well.  You know your child best and can provide us with helpful information.  Please share your input on the Parent Placement Input form linked here.  You can either print it out and send in a hard copy to the office or make a copy of the form and email it directly to me, bodonoghue@gdrsd.org.  Please remember that individual teacher requests will not be honored.  The form has specific questions for you to respond to.  Your input is due by 4/24/23.

Have a nice weekend!

Brian
