Dear Florence Roche Families,
After an unexpected power outage and no school yesterday, we were welcomed back into the building with a delicious breakfast spread provided by our 1st grade families. Thank you for providing this for all of us!
We lost a day of the book fair on Thursday, but Scholastic is allowing us to extend it through Monday to make up for the lost day. Classes that were scheduled to attend the book fair on Thursday will now attend on Monday. A big thank you to Beth Pendal for coordinating the book fair and for the many volunteers who helped with making it all work. Thank you also to Mrs. Kinneen for giving up her teaching space for the week and being creative with her physical education instruction outside of the gym.
2nd grade students participated in a science and engineering enrichment experience this week. They learned about forces and motion as they designed and tested safety procedures to keep “Crash Test Jack” safe. Thank you to the Groton Commissioners of Trust for funding this program for our students.
The Term II student report cards will be available on Tuesday, April 4th through your parent portal on SchoolBrains.
The Project 351 clothing drive led by our 8th grade ambassadors was a success. Thank you for your many donations. The clothing drive is now over and we will no longer be collecting donations.
We will be starting our class placement for 2023-2024 in early May. As part of that process, we collect parent input as well. You know your child best and can provide us with helpful information. Please share your input on the Parent Placement Input form. You can either print it out and send in a hard copy to the office or make a copy of the form and email it directly to me, bodonoghue@gdrsd.org. Please remember that individual teacher requests will not be honored. The form has specific questions for you to respond to. Your input is due by 4/24/23.
Our first round of MCAS testing for grades 3 and 4 students is scheduled for the week of April 10th. Here is the ELA and math MCAS schedule for this spring.
