Making Slime!

March 10, 2023

Dear Florence Roche Families,

It’s finally here!  The grades 4 and 3 presentation of Honk Jr. is happening this weekend.  I am excited to see our students perform on opening night, tonight at 6:30 in the PAC.  There are 2 shows scheduled for Saturday at 2:00pm and 6:30pm.  This is a great opportunity for a family outing in support of our hardworking students.  I hope to see you there!

Here is a clip from the Groton Channel to give you some additional information about the play.  Honk Jr. Preview

Thank you to the Groton Commissioners of Trusts for funding a couple of student enrichment programs this week.  Grade 2 students learned about the changing states of matter during their Making Slime program.  Grade 4 students went on a virtual field trip through the Tsongas Industrial Center to learn about the immigration experience.

The Florence Roche School Council is made up of parents, staff members and a community member.  Our primary focus is the development of a school improvement plan and school goals that support that plan.  We align our work with the work being done at the district level to ensure a sense of consistency across our district schools.  Most recently, we refined our community outreach goal and we are currently considering possible action steps in support of meeting this goal.  We are asking for your support with identifying these action steps by completing this brief survey.  Thank you for your time.

Two of our middle school students are coordinating a clothing drive as 8th grade ambassadors to Project 351.  This is a statewide service campaign led by middle schoolers in support of Cradles to Crayons.  Every ambassador will collect clothing at a host site.  Our ambassadors will be collecting clothing at Florence Roche, Swallow Union, and Maple Village Preschool. They will be collecting clothing from March 27-31.  Look for our collection box in the front lobby of the school.
