GSPD

Dear Families,

Global Play Day: On Wednesday, February 1st, Boutwell will be celebrating Global School Play Day! The purpose of Global School Play Day is to raise awareness about the importance of unstructured play. We are inviting all children to participate and bring in a favorite toy/play item. In keeping with the spirit of Global Play Day, we ask that children do not bring in toys that require batteries or electricity. Some ideas are: board games, puzzles, lego creations, figurines, dolls, large cardboard boxes, racetracks, etc. As long as the weather cooperates, we will be enjoying the snow and will have extra recess time!

Upcoming Registration Information: Preschool registration is getting closer! As a reminder, the link will be posted on our website on February 1st. We will continue to offer half day classes and full day classes, including a Pre-K class. For full day Pre-K, preference will be given to those children who are entering kindergarten the following year. Current returning students and siblings will also have preference, but still need to fill out the registration form.  We had a fantastic response last year, resulting in a wait list; we expect that this year will be the same. Please plan to register within a timely manner so that your spot can be reserved. Bookmark this page for February 1st!   https://www.gdrsd.org/o/becc/p...

Once confirmed, Anne will reach out to families to discuss next steps (deposit information). If you have any questions, please contact Maggie at mrossrichardson@gdrsd.org.

Notes from the Nurse: Vision Screening: We will be conducting our annual vision screenings during the month of February. This is a free service provided by the school district in accordance with Massachusetts law that requires preschoolers to have a vision screening done within 12 months prior to their entry into kindergarten. The process is quick and painless. I will notify you in writing only if your child fails the screening. Please call or email me if you have any questions or concerns 978-448-2297 ext. 5014 or lortiz@gdrsd.org.

Donations:

With the wonderful winter weather we have been having, we do go outside to play. There are times when a child is without a hat or mittens. If you have any you’d like to donate, we’d definitely  appreciate it!

Take care,

Maggie
