Friday - Sensory Friendly Friday -  Students and staff wore comfy clothes and used natural light!

Boutwell students will be watching caterpillars grow into beautiful butterflies, thanks to a donation from the Bennett family in Mrs. Karyn's room! Students in each classroom will watch them grow together as a school. The students are very excited to watch the transformations!

Warmer weather is on the way! With the increase in temperatures, sun, and insects, please see the following reminder about sunscreen and bug spray.

Please apply sunscreen and bug spray to your child BEFORE school. Staff are not able to apply them at school. Additional sun safety tips include:

  • Clothing is the single most effective form of sun protection for the body.

  • Dress your child in cool, comfortable clothing that covers the body, such as lightweight cotton pants, long-sleeved shirts, and hats.

  • Select clothes made with a tight weave; they protect better than clothes with a looser weave. If you're not sure how tight a fabric's weave is, hold it up to see how much light shines through. The less light, the better. Or you can look for protective clothing labeled with an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF).

  • Wear a hat with an all-around 3-inch brim to shield the face, ears, and back of the neck.

  • Wear sunglasses with UV protection.

Upcoming Events: Please see the following flier for the 2nd annual bike rodeo!!

GD is partnering with both the Groton and Dunstable police departments on Saturday, April 29 to host our second annual bike rodeo at GDRHS from 9a-1p. There will be a representative from MA Bikes conducting safety sessions for students pre K-4 all day. There students will also have the opportunity to bike through an obstacle! We will be doing helmet fittings and giving away free helmets and bike lights for kids. The police officers will be talking about safety as well as meet and greet with the kids. Last but not least, both PE teachers from the district will be assisting with the entire event. It is sure to be a great day!
