Good Afternoon Groton Dunstable Regional School District Staff and Families,

As we know, the temperature over the next few days is predicted to be very cold.  We have been monitoring the forecast and it seems as if the coldest day will be on Saturday.  While it will also be cold tomorrow, Friday, February 3rd, we are planning to have a regularly scheduled school day.

We have contacted Dee Bus company to make sure that the buses will be ready to roll in the morning.  Dee sees no reason why that would not be the case.  They are confident that they will not have a problem with arrival and dismissal tomorrow.

We have worked with maintenance and grounds to make sure that we leave the heat at a higher temperature this evening so that when the students and staff arrive for school in the morning the buildings will be ready to go.  This is also a proactive measure to keep our pipes from freezing.

Of course any buildings that typically have recess will be holding all recess and learning breaks inside tomorrow.  We have also thought about the students that do move between the Middle School North and Middle School South during the school day.  Students will be encouraged to keep their jackets and winter wear with them or will be allowed to get them before moving outside.  We will also have staff being even more vigilant than usual about helping our middle schoolers get from one building to another as quickly and safely as possible.

Families can help us have a smooth day tomorrow by reminding students to come to school dressed in appropriate winter attire.  If you are a family that drives to and from school, please also drop off and pick up your students as close to arrival and dismissal times as possible.  If you are a family that has students that ride the bus, please be mindful of bundling up while waiting for the bus to pick up in the morning.  Students will not wait outside for bus dismissal in the afternoon as is our typical practice.  We appreciate your partnership.

As always, if anything should change and further communication becomes necessary, we will reach out again through the routine channels to make you aware and you can adjust your plan for the day if necessary.

Bundle up out there and stay safe.
