Policy:  Behavior


Level 1

Misbehaviors
Level 1 misbehaviors are those which interfere with the orderly learning environment of the school.
Examples: Listed below are the types of misbehaviors that are considered Level 1. This list may not include all the misbehaviors that would be characterized as Level 1.

A. Running in hallways
B. Disturbing the work or play of others
C. Failure to follow directions and rules
D. Cheating
E. Teasing or bullying
F. Misbehavior which is dangerous to self or others (shoving, pushing, hitting)
G. Intentionally damaging school or personal property
H. Use of profanity
I. Derogatory reference to another person’s race, gender, religion, physical condition, handicap, or ethnic origin
J. Disrespectful language or behavior toward an adult
K. Lying
L. Repeated tardiness
M. Exchange of money between students

Consequences
The disciplining of students for misbehavior at Level 1 is dependent upon the severity and frequency of the misbehavior. A staff member usually administers the disciplinary actions at Level 1, with additional involvement from the Principal if warranted.
A. Discussion of the misbehavior with the child
B. Verbal reprimand
C. Reinforcement of alternative positive behavior
D. Student will complete a problem report
E. Loss of privileges

Level 2

Misbehaviors
Level 2 misbehaviors are those which seriously interfere with the orderly environment of the school and are potentially dangerous to the safety and well being of the students and staff.
Examples: Listed below are the types of misbehavior that are included in Level 2. This list may not include all the misbehaviors that would be characterized as Level 2.
A. Repeated instances of Level 1 misbehavior which has not been modified by intervention
B. Harassment
C. Intentionally causing physical and emotional harm to others
D. Possession or use of weapons

Consequences
The disciplining of students for this behavior at Level 2 is dependent upon the severity and frequency of the specific misbehavior. A staff member or principal administers the disciplinary actions at Level 2.

A. After school detention
B. In school suspension
C. Suspension from school
D. Parent conference
E. Referral to child study team
F. Implementation of behavior management team


Level 3

Misbehaviors
Level 3 misbehaviors are considered the most serious violations at our school. These misbehaviors endanger the health, safety, and personal well being of the students and adults at our school.
Examples: Listed below is the type of misbehavior that is included in Level 3.
A. Repeated or serious instances of Level 2 misbehavior which has not been modified by intervention

Consequences
Misbehavior at Level 3 will involve either an in school or out of school suspension. It will be decided by the principal what type and length of suspension will be enforced by the misbehavior.
