Third Grade News:
Ms. Gardner’s Class -
We taught our teacher, yes we did! We taught Ms. G. about Ruby Bridges, Buffalo Bill Conner, Anne Oakley, Sequoyah (the inventor of the Cherokee alphabet) and many more people. We dressed up in our costumes and read our reports. You can see our reports in the hallway going upstairs and inside our classroom. We worked ourselves to the limit!

In Ms. Gardner’s 3rd grade class we are making wired houses out of little cardboard boxes, in each group. We will decorate them and give them a street address and give them names. Some people might give them a theme like in the old days or a modern theme. Each group has 3or 4 people: one planner, one artist and one leader. So far most of our class are done with the electrical wiring of our little cardboard boxes. I think all of our class has had a fun experience!

In Ms. Gardner's class, we've been experimenting with light bulbs, batteries, wires, and motors to try to create circuits. We've wired flashlights inside cardboard rolls and had a light show, and we lit light bulbs with two wires, a battery, and a bulb. We also learned about circuit diagrams and series and parallel circuits. We've had a great time learning about electricity!

In Math we are making math games. Everybody in our class created a math game. All the games teach either multiplication, division, fractions, addition or subtraction. My game is called Monster Dice. It teaches adding money and multiplying numbers on dice. I love playing math games.

For three weeks, an artist named Joni Parker Roach is teaching us about famous artists. She teaches us about the Renaissance, Impressionism, and Modern Art. She comes on Thursdays and it's so much fun! It will also help us with our artist reports coming up.

In Ms.G’s class we are studying art! We are each studying one artist and his/her paintings. In Art Class we are painting our own version of one of his/her paintings. I’m doing Joseph Stella, and I am painting Old Brooklyn Bridge. I love Art history and doing research.
