*Concert – the Prescott Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 PM in the PAC.
*Condolences – to the Smethurst children on the passing of their grandfather John Erickson. Also, we send condolences to Elena Lazaris and the Brown family on the loss of their grandfather. Our sympathies go out to all and their family members.
*EQA Report – The district has received a summary report from the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability (EQA). You can read the report at www.eqa.mass.edu. We are fortunate to live in a district that has done so well!
*First Day of School, Fall 2008 – is Thursday, September 4th for students. Last day this year for Prescott students only is June 20th.
*Fourth Grade “Graduation” – Friday, June 20th @ 9:30 am I the gym. Family and friends are invited. Siblings will be released from class to attend.
*GDEF Grants – Last fall, the GDEF granted Prescott a grant for music and poetry collaboration at the 1st grade level. Artist in Residence Wendy Frank will work with the 1st graders in helping them turn their poetry into songs and chants shortly after vacation. Drums and percussion instruments will be used to explore rhythm. She is planning on three sessions with each first grade class. Thank you GDEF!!
*GDEF Grants Celebration – All parents and staff are invited to the GDEF Grant celebration on May 15, 2008 in the Middle School North Library from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.
*Half -Days – May 1st (parent conferences) & 6th (curriculum day) 2008 are both half-days. Dismissal is at 12:10 PM.
*Lunch Tickets –When ordering Prescott Lunch ticket, please be aware of the number of school days remaining. As always, it is possible to purchase lunch on a day-to-day basis. Currently, the last day of school is June 20th for Prescott students. This means we have 33 hot lunch days left and you might not need a card if your child doesn’t buy frequently.
*MCAS 2008 – Grade 3 will take the Math MCAS tests May 12th, 13th & 14th.
Grade 4 will take the Math MCAS tests May 14th, 15th, & 16th.
Please make every effort to have your child in school and well rested. A child must only be absent due to illness.
*Prescott School Play – will be held on Friday, May 2 at 7:00PM & Saturday, May 3rd at 4:00PM in the P.A.C. The play this year is Tied To The Tracks. Adult tickets are $5.00 each. Prescott students get a discounted rate of $2.00. What a bargain for a great show!
*Relay for Life – Some of the Prescott staff will be participating in a 24 hour walking marathon called Relay for Life, to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. This event will be held at Mt. Wachusett Community College on June 6th & 7th. You may purchase luminaries in a loved one’s name that had or is presently suffering with cancer as a way of supporting this worthy cause. If you are interested in sponsoring or purchasing a luminary, please return the attached form in the back section of the newsletter or contact Debbie at # 978-448-0380.
