Welcome to the Groton-Dunstable Middle School

The Groton-Dunstable Middle School is located at 344 Main Street, with a current population of 976 students in grades five through eight. The school administration consists of the Principal Steven Silverman, and Assistant Principals, Dina Mancini and Mark Branco.

The mission of the middle school is to respond to the developmental needs of students who are between the ages of eleven and fourteen.  As a bridge between elementary and secondary school, the middle school nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional development of the middle level child.  School improvement initiatives have focused on creating life long learners and promoting an intentionally inviting school for students, teachers, and parents.

In support of teaching and learning the middle school continues to connect assessment of student work with curriculum standards and instruction.  Over the past six years the middle school faculty have developed beliefs about assessment of student work that promote expectations for students in advance of instruction.  The Middle School faculty believes that students are part of the assessment process, different approaches should be applied to assessment of student work, not every assessment needs to be perfect but students should be allowed to learn from their mistakes.
