Dear Parents,
February is underway and we are ready for another vacation! As we look ahead in the calendar, it is important to note that the English Language Arts/Reading MCAS Test for grades 5, 6 & 8 will be given between March 24-April 4th and the English Language Arts/Reading MCAS Test for grade 7 will be given between March 26 – April 4th. The Grade 7 ELA Composition Test will be given on March 25th. An exact schedule will be included in your child’s Friday Folder in the next couple of weeks. Please make every effort to have your child in school (and on time) during these MCAS testing periods. All other MCAS tests will be given during the month of May. In preparation for these tests, all of our teachers are continuing to integrate Reading and Writing across the curriculum.
In celebration of Black History Month, I am very pleased to announce that the Joe Sallins Trio will be performing at our middle school for all of our students on February 13th. These actors have composed their own music and have performed in many parts of the world such as Asia and Africa. As part of their repertoire, they play a number of different instruments such as the drums, electric guitar, balafon, gongs and keyboard. They also play a variety of different styles of music such as jazz, blues, alternative rock, rap, world music and hip hop.
For planning purposes, the following is a list of upcoming dates and events that will be taking place at Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School during the month of February.
