Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What time does school begin and end?

Students arrive between 7:05-7:20 a.m.  The late bell rings at 7:25 a.m.  The day ends at 1:50 p.m.

What should I do if my teen is absent or tardy?

Please call the office to excuse your teen from being absent or tardy.  A note may be sent in the day your teen returns to school, but the courtesy of a phone call on the day of the absence is requested.  Absences or tardiness without a phone call and note will result in detention(s) for the student, as outlined in the student handbook.

 How can students be dismissed?

Please send in a note indicating the time and date of dismissal, as well as a phone number where we can call and confirm permission for dismissal with you.  Once students are dismissed, they may return to school if accompanied by a doctor’s note or provide verification of a court appointment.

How much does lunch cost?

Hot lunch is available for $2.25.   There is also an a la carte line with a variety of soup, salads and sandwiches available.

How many classes do students take?

Students are assigned 4 classes per day.  Each class is 83 minutes.  Some elective classes are scheduled for a nine-week term, while others, such as Algebra or Integrated Science, are for an 18 week semester.

When will scheduling for 9th grade classes begin?

Scheduling for incoming 9th graders will begin in the spring of their 8th grade year.  At that time, you will receive a Program of Studies containing course descriptions, graduation, and college requirements.

How often will I receive progress reports and report cards?

Progress reports are mailed home 4 ½ weeks into a term.  Report cards are sent home with the student at the close of the term, with the exception of the last term, when report cards are mailed home.

How do I contact a teacher?

You may call the school at 978-448-6362.  If the teacher is unavailable, you may leave a voice mail message.  You can also send email to teachers (see the staff directory for addresses as well as phone extensions).  Regularly scheduled parent conferences are held twice a year.  The dates and times are listed in the newsletter.
