There are many career planning resources available on the Internet, in Libraries and through the Guidance Department.  Here are some of them:

Occupational Outlook Handbook  http://stats.bls.gov.ocohome.htm  The OOH is an excellent starting place to search for employment information on specific occupations based on data supplied by the federal government.

Americorps  http://www.cns.gov/americorps/index.html  AmeriCorps is the national service program through which 40,000 people each year tackle community problems from disaster relief to tutoring.  Find out how you can join AmeriCorps.

America’s Job Bank  http://www.ajb.dni.us/  This site allows employers to list vacancies and applicants to file resumes.  It also has information about employment trends and job seeking strategies

ASVAB Career Exploration Program  http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/asvab/CareerExplorationProgram/  Once a student has taken the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery, this site will assist with interpretation of the results and consequent career exploration strategies.

Career Interest Game  http://web.missouri.edu/~cppcwww/holland.shmtl  This is a game designed to help you match your interests and skills with similar careers.  It can help you begin thinking about how your personality will fit in with specific work environments and careers (based on the Holland career clusters)

Career Key  http://www.ncsu.edu/careerkey/  The Career Key interest inventory assists students with identifying personality types, finding jobs that fit those types and has links to find out more about those jobs.  A section also explores how to make good career decisions (based on Holland career clusters)

Career Magazine  http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cool/  Features and programs designed to assist employers and job seekers to communicate with each other and facilitate the employment process.

Career Match  http://www.intec.edu.za/career/career.htm  Career Match is a quick, easy way to get useful, personal vocational guidance.  All you need do is fill out a simple form which involves the ranking of various descriptive words, submit your form online and within seconds you will receive your personal Career Match results.

Career Mosaic  http://www.careermosaic.com/  This is a national job vacancy database geared toward careers in technology and computers.

Career View  http://www.collegeview.com/careers/  Here you’ll find information on how to find the right job.  In addition to resources that can help you locate career opportunities, it includes a wealth of information on resume writing, interviewing skills, best-paying and fastest-growing fields and careers, etc.

Career Zone  http://www.explore.cornell.edu/newcareerzone/  This site offers a cluster approach to career exploration based on the Holland organization scheme.  Information on specific jobs can also be sorted by years of training required.

Careers  http://www.uwhelp.wisconsin.edu/CAREERS/CAREERS.HTM  Site from the University of Wisconsin career center ties together career planning with selecting a college major.

Changing Channels  http://www.channels.org/main.html  From manufacturing and aviation careers to telecommunications and Indy race car technicians, the jobs of 2000 require highly skilled professionals…a new workforce of women and men.  This site focuses on jobs of the future and technology.

Job Web  http://www.jobweb.com  Extremely complete collection of career information including job search, info on career choices from aquatic science to zoo keeping, on-line periodicals, reference sources, etc.  Medical, Law, Business Schools, etc., minority resources, info for persons with disabilities, and international resources.  Also contains info on writing a resume.

Michigan Occupational Information System  http://mois.org/moistest.html  On-line Self Assessment Career Survey assists students with identifying their interests, aptitudes and experiences as related to career selection.

My Future  http://www.myfuture.com/  Focuses on college and career information especially for teens.  Build a resume online, find out about college finance options, roommate stories, the military as an option and more.

Princeton Review  http://www.review.com/career/templates/temp1.cfm?body-index.cfm  Information on finding and keeping a job, cover letter, interviewing, resumes, employment trends, etc.  Also has search engine for finding information on specific careers.

Quintessential Career and Job Hunting Resources Guide  http://www.quintcareers.com/index.html  This site is designed to provide as much information and resources as possible about jobs and careers for job seekers.  While this site has all types of resources and links, its main focus is on helping college students find internships and employment.
